THE SILENT RAGE – „Nuances of Life“

Griechenland. Erfinder der Demokratie. Hüter von Ouzo und Raki Rezepten. Und Hervorbringer von THE SILENT RAGE, welche mit „Nuances Of Life“ ihr zweites Album an den Start bringen. Stilistisch bewegen sich die Hellenen irgendwo zwischen gutem, alten Heavy Metal und pumpendem Power Metal. Und den zelebrieren sie auf dem Album von der ersten Sekunde weg. Über 50 Minuten singen die Mannen von Mythen, Helden und Diktatoren… und vielem mehr. Sänger Michalis Rinakakis singt, bellt und schreit sich durch die Songs und lässt in jedem ein Stück seiner Seele zurück. Die Instrumenten-Sektion unterstützt ihn dabei und treibt Songs und Hörer dabei unerbittlich vor sich her. Der Power Metal ist dabei zwar unüberhörbar, Stücke wie „The Serpent Lord“, „Code Of Destruction“ und „Carve Your Rage“ bedienen sich alle sehr stark an klassischem Heavy Metal der End 70er, Anfangs 80er. Und das ist gut so, denn die im Power Metal oft zitierten Songlinien und Gitarren-Riffs sucht man bei THE SILENT RAGE nahezu vergebens und orientiert sich eher an JUDAS PRIEST und IRON MAIDEN, ohne aber allzu sehr nach selbigen zu klingen.
Das trügt zwar alles nicht darüber hinweg, dass songschreiberisch schnell mal die Luft raus ist und alles irgendwie ähnlich daher kommt (mit Ausnahmen wie etwa „Black Monday“). Allerdings gelingt es dem Fünfer trotz mangelnder Ideen, um ein vollends abwechslungsreiches Album vorzulegen, eine durchgängige Linie zu fahren und den Hörer über die ganze Distanz zu unterhalten, den für Langeweile bleibt auf „Nuances Of Life“ schlichtweg keine Zeit: Viel zu sehr ist man damit beschäftigt, mit Kopf und Fuss im Takt zu wippen und zwischendurch schnell die Faust in rockigem Eifer in die Höhe zu strecken.
Fazit
THE SILENT RAGE erfinden zwar weder Power Metal noch Heavy Metal neu, was sie mit „Nuances Of Life“ aber abliefern mag den Hörer an die Boxen zu fesseln und macht bestimmt auch Live sehr viel Spass. Wenn die Jungs die Pace aufrecht erhalten, dürften wir also spätestens 2030 mit einem neuen Album rechnen. Bis dahin sei allen „Nuances Of Life“ wärmstens empfohlen.

Greece. Inventor of democracy. Keeper of Ouzo and Raki recipes. And the originator of THE SILENT RAGE, who are releasing their second album „Nuances Of Life“. Stylistically the Hellenes move somewhere between good old Heavy Metal and pumping Power Metal. And they celebrate this on the album from the first second away. Over 50 minutes the men sing about myths, heroes and dictators… and much more. Singer Michalis Rinakakis sings, barks and screams his way through the songs, leaving a piece of his soul in each one. The instrumental section supports him and drives songs and listeners relentlessly before him. The power metal is unmistakable, pieces like „The Serpent Lord“, „Code Of Destruction“ and „Carve Your Rage“ are all very much based on classic heavy metal of the late 70s, early 80s. And that’s good, because the song lines and guitar riffs often quoted in Power Metal are almost in vain with THE SILENT RAGE and are oriented more to JUDAS PRIEST and IRON MAIDEN, but without sounding too much like the same.
This doesn’t hide the fact that the songwriting quickly runs out of steam and everything comes across as similar (with exceptions such as „Black Monday“). However, despite the lack of ideas to present a fully varied album, the five manages to drive a consistent line and entertain the listener over the entire distance, because there is simply no time for boredom on „Nuances Of Life“: You are much too busy to bob your head and feet to the beat and in between quickly raise your fist in rocking zeal.
Conclusion
THE SILENT RAGE reinvent neither Power Metal nor Heavy Metal, but what they deliver with „Nuances Of Life“ may tie the listener to the boxes and is certainly a lot of fun live. If the guys keep up the pace, we should expect a new album in 2030 at the latest. Until then, „Nuances Of Life“ is warmly recommended to all.
