Es gibt und gab immer wieder grosse Hardrock-Bands aus der Schweiz; GOTTHARD, KROKUS oder CHINA. Sie sind in die Jahre gekommen, ihr Lack blättert, so richtig rockig sind nur noch die Sideprojects wie CORELEONI oder STORACE. Erfreulich, dass der Nachwuchs gesichert ist – etwa mit FIGHTER V oder eben der ROCKOUT BAND.
Florian Badertscher – Vocals, Guitar, Severin Held – Guitar, Luca Gfeller – Bass und David Bärtschi – Drums, so heisst das Lineup des klassischen Hardrock-Quartetts. Diese Standardbesetzung sorgt für den nötigen Druck, die Kompositionen orientieren sich am Südstaatenrock oder klassischen Sounds von AC/DC und Co. und bringen alle Ingredienzen für richtigen „kick ass“-Sound mit einer gehörigen Portion Melodie und Power.
By The Way – manche bezeichnen die Jungs als „AC/DC-Coverband“. Um dieses Attribut kommt man kaum herum, wenn man solchen Sound macht. Einerseits finde ich das ein Kompliment, andererseits würde ich die Truppe wegen ihrer Energie dann schon eher AIRBOURNE zuordnen.
„Stellt euch einen verrauchten Raum vor, in dem der Duft von frisch gezapftem Bier in der Luft liegt, und eine Menschenmenge, die ihre Gläser erhebt, während klassische Rockakkorde durch die Atmosphäre schallen. Dies ist die Welt von Rock-Out, einer Band, die die rohe Energie der Rockmusik in ihrer reinsten Form verkörpert.“
Das klingt zwar etwas pathetisch und der Promo geschuldet, hört man sich das Material der Kapelle an, kann man das aber gut unterschreiben.
Das Album bietet zehn Tracks, die sich weitgehend an die Devise „full power – straight ahead“ halten. Dabei gehen zwei Dinge klar, die es unbedingt braucht. Einerseits ist es die Stimme von Florian Bader – so muss Rock klingen, immer hart an der Grenze zum Überschlagen, präzise und mit dem Gefühl, dass es eigentlich schmerzen muss, so zu singen. Ergänzt wird das durch die Melodieparts, bei denen auch die Kollegen fröhlich mittun.
Andererseits ist das die Gitarrenarbeit, wobei ich nicht klar sagen kann, wer hier für die Leadgitarre zuständig ist Severin Held oder Florian Badertscher oder beide. Bestes Beispiel auf dem Album ist “ Hcrnrsm“, der auf den ersten Blick relativ nett einfährt – und mit einem furiosen Solo des Sechssaiters endet. Das nenne ich einmal flinke Finger.
Neben den Vollgastracks können die Jungs auch Midtempo – „Hit Me“ etwa oder „Don’t Call Me Honey. Und selbstverständlich halten sich die Jungs an das ungeschrieben Gesetz, dass auf ein seriöses Rockalbum eine (Power-) Ballade gehört. Oder wie es mein „brother in rock“ zu nennen pflegt – ein Samenlöser. „Tears Are The Rain heisst das Stück. Auch hier übrigens das passende Solo – heulende Gitarre, nah am seligen Tod der Bedächtigkeit – ich liebe das!
Fazit
Das Album ist grossartig und kommt erfreulicherweise aus der Schweiz. Die Jungs beweisen, dass es Nachwuchs gibt, damit GOTTHARD und Co. langsam in Pension gehen dürfen. Wer Hardrock mag, sollte das Album unbedingt kaufen – und gleich mal vorbestellen!

There are and have always been great hard rock bands from Switzerland; GOTTHARD, KROKUS or CHINA. They are getting on in years, their shine is peeling, only the side projects like CORELEONI or STORACE are still really rocking. It’s encouraging that the next generation is secured – for example with FIGHTER V or the ROCKOUT BAND.
Florian Badertscher – vocals, guitar, Severin Held – guitar, Luca Gfeller – bass and David Bärtschi – drums: that’s the line-up of the classic hard rock quartet. This standard line-up provides the necessary pressure, the compositions are based on southern rock or the classic sounds of AC/DC and Co. and have all the ingredients for the right ‘kick-ass’ sound with a good portion of melody and power.
By the way – some people describe the guys as an ‘AC/DC cover band’. You can’t really get around this description if you play that kind of sound. On the one hand, I think it’s a compliment, but on the other hand, I would rather categorise the band as AIRBOURNE because of their energy.
‘Imagine a smoky room, the scent of freshly tapped beer in the air, and a crowd raising their glasses as classic rock chords echo through the atmosphere. This is the world of Rock-Out, a band that embodies the raw energy of rock music in its purest form.’
That may sound a bit dramatic and be due to the promo, but if you listen to the band’s material, you can easily subscribe to it.
The album offers ten tracks that largely adhere to the motto ‘full power – straight ahead’. Two things are clear that are absolutely necessary. On the one hand, there is the voice of Florian Bader – this is how rock must sound, always on the verge of rolling over, precise and with the feeling that it must actually hurt to sing like this. This is complemented by the melody parts, in which the colleagues also happily join in.
On the other hand, there is the guitar work, although I can’t say for sure who is responsible for the lead guitar here, Severin Held or Florian Badertscher or both. The best example on the album is ‘Hcrnrsm’, which at first seems relatively nice and ends with a furious solo by the six-string. That’s what I call nimble fingers.
Besides the full-throttle tracks, the guys can also do mid-tempo, ‘Hit Me’ for example, or ‘Don’t Call Me Honey.’ And of course the guys abide by the unwritten rule that a serious rock album needs a (power) ballad. Or as my ‘brother in rock’ likes to call it – a seed loosener. ‘Tears Are The Rain’ is the name of the piece. And here, too, is the fitting solo – howling guitar, close to the blessed death of thoughtfulness – I love it!
Conclusion
The album is great and, fortunately, comes from Switzerland. The guys prove that there is new blood so that GOTTHARD and Co. can slowly retire. If you like hard rock, you should definitely buy the album – and pre-order it right now!
