Die Jungs haben ihre grossen Abdrücke schon auf vielen Listen verewigt. Sei es bei KERRANG, LOUDWIRE oder dem PROG MAGAZINE – alle führen die Truppe unter den Besten ihres Genres. Können die Amerikaner diese hohen Bewertungen und Ansprüche auch mit ihrem neuen Album rechtfertigen?

Nicht weniger als 12 Tracks wurden auf „Colors II“ gepresst – es nimmt Bezug auf ihr Album „Colors“ – Werk Nummer vier von 2007, das den Durchbruch der Band bedeutete. Gleich vorweg; was die Band auszeichnet, zeichnet auch dieses Album aus; Kreativität, eine grosse musikalische Bandbreite und eine enorme Power – BTBAM at its best.
Die Scheibe beginnt „Monochrome“, also einfarbig – aber nicht eintönig! Der Song startet sanft, entwickelt sich dann weiter zu einer Powerballade und gipfelt in einer „Hardcore-Hymne“ – ein vorweggenommenes Fazit des gesamten Albums.
Richtig fetten Hardcore liefern sie dann bei „The Double Helix“, ebenso bei „Revolution In Limbo“ oder „Fix The Error“. Dazu gibt es aber auch progressiv-komplexe Songs wie „Bad Habits“ oder das vergleichsweise sanfte „Sfumato“. Die Krone legt die Band jedoch mit dem letzten Track „Human Is Hell“ vor; vom ersten bis zum letzten Ton ein Prog-Epos der Sonderklasse von gut 15 Minuten Dauer. Hier zeigen BTBAM, was sie wirklich drauf haben – eine Feier für die Ohren!

Fazit

"Colors II" ist deutlich mehr als eine Ode an "Colors". Es ist ein mehr als erwachsenes Album, es ist ein Meilenstein sowohl für die Band als auch für die Metalcore- und Progszene. Unbedingt kaufen!

No less than 12 tracks were pressed on „Colors II“ – it refers to their album „Colors“ – work number four from 2007, which meant the band’s breakthrough. Right away; what distinguishes the band also distinguishes this album; creativity, a wide musical range and enormous power – BTBAM at its best.
The disc begins „Monochrome“, i.e. monochrome – but not monotonous! The song starts softly, then develops further into a power ballad and culminates in a „hardcore anthem“ – an anticipated conclusion of the whole album.
They then deliver really fat hardcore on „The Double Helix“, as well as on „Revolution In Limbo“ or „Fix The Error“. But there are also progressive-complex songs like „Bad Habits“ or the comparatively gentle „Sfumato“. However, the band takes the crown with the last track „Human Is Hell“; from the first to the last note, a prog epic of the special class lasting a good 15 minutes. Here BTBAM show what they are really capable of – a celebration for the ears!

Conclusion

"Colors II" is clearly more than an ode to "Colors". It is a more than grown-up album, it is a milestone for both the band and the metalcore and prog scene. Definitely buy it!
