Ich als ein eingefleischter BEHEMOTH Fan war entsprechend gehypted auf das neue Album.

Am Anfang wurden wir schon gut gefüttert mit der Frühveröffentlichung von vier Songs; „Ov My Herculean Exile“, „Off To War!“, „The Deathless Sun“ und „Thy Becoming Eternal“. Alle für sich genommen starke und erkennbare Songs von BEHEMOTH. Dem Stile schwer nach dem Vorgängeralbum, was eigentlich nicht Schlimmes ist.
Ich hatte die Ehre, dieses Album schon zwei Wochen vorher zu hören. Beim Durchhören des ganzes Albums wurde ich doch etwas enttäuscht. Mehr dazu besser erklärt.
Beim Introlied musste ich erstmals etwas stutzen, da die Trommeln ähnlich klingen wie wir das von der Band HEILUNG kennen – sie werden gefolgt vom Nergals Gebet, wieder sehr rituell wie am Anfang. Naja, okay – speziell.
Anschliessend folgt „Malaria Vvlgata“ direkt schnell prätschend, alles sehr gewohnt. Schnelle Riffs, brachialle Texte und Stimme seitens Nergal. Kurz und knackig mit 2 Minuten 18 Sekunden. Und nun kommt schon was Bekanntes – „The Deathless Sun“. Bisher war das mein Favorit von den Frühveröffentlichungen. Ein μ ruhiger als das vorherige Lied, dennoch sehr drückend, hart und abwechslungsreich. Solche Lieder lieb ich eigentlich.
Mit einer weiteren bekannten Nummer geht’s weiter mit „Ov My Herculean Exile“. Erinnert schwer nach dem einen Lied vom Album „The Satanist“ aus dem Jahre 2014 und zwar „Messe Noir“. Das finde ich etwas schwach, es mag ja vielleicht Geschmacksache sein. Mit „Neo-Spartacvs“ ist der Prätsch-Level dann wieder recht angezogen und eigentlich recht gut – mit „Disinheritnce“ ist es etwa gleich.
Nun folgt die nächste Frühveröffentlichung „Off To War!“. Endlich wieder ein Lied, das man von den anderen gut unterscheiden kann.
Von hier an merkt man schon, dass hier zwar sehr vieles als Einzelteile gut ist, aber alles wirkt irgendwie monoton, und wie schon einmal gehört. So gut im Hintergrund, aber irgendwie nicht so, dass man sagen kann, dass man hier riesig in der Musik versinken könnte. Ausser beim Abschlusslied „Versvs Christvs“ vielleicht, was neben dem Track „The Deathless Sun“ mein Favoriten im Album ist.
Fazit: Ich hab mir mehr erwartet respektive erhofft, besonders, da Nergal das Album gross angekündigt und gepriesen hatte. Naja wie vorhin geschrieben, kann man das Album gut im Hintergrund laufen lassen. Will man es aktiver, ziehe ich lieber ältere Alben vor. Schlecht ist es nicht, nein, nur lediglich eher fade, monoton und selten mit klarem Wiedererkennungs- oder Alleinstellungsmerkmal.
Fazit
Es tut mir zwar weh, aber das können BEHEMOTH besser, dies ist leider klar.

In the beginning we were already well fed with the early release of four songs; „Ov My Herculean Exile“, „Off To War!“, „The Deathless Sun“ and „Thy Becoming Eternal“. All strong and recognizable BEHEMOTH songs in their own right. Heavy on the style after the previous album, which is actually not a bad thing.
I had the honor of listening to this album two weeks prior. Listening through the whole album, I was a bit disappointed after all. More on this better explained.
At the intro song I had to stumble a bit for the first time, because the drums sound similar to what we know from the band HEALING – they are followed by Nergal’s prayer, again very ritualistic like at the beginning. Well, okay – special.
After that follows „Malaria Vvlgata“ directly fast pretzeling, everything very familiar. Fast riffs, brute lyrics and voice on the part of Nergal. Short and crisp with 2 minutes 18 seconds. And now comes something familiar – „The Deathless Sun“. So far this was my favorite of the early releases. A μ quieter than the previous song, yet very oppressive, hard and varied. I actually love songs like this.
Continues with another familiar number with „Ov My Herculean Exile.“ Reminds heavily after the one song from the album „The Satanist“ from 2014 and that is „Messe Noir“. I find this a bit weak, it may be a matter of taste. With „Neo-Spartacvs“ the Praetsch level is then again quite tightened and actually quite good – with „Disinheritnce“ it is about the same.
Now comes the next early release „Off To War!“. Finally another song that can be easily distinguished from the others.
From here on you already notice that here is very much good as individual parts, but everything seems somehow monotonous, and as if heard before. So good in the background, but somehow not so that you can say that you could sink here huge in the music. Except for the closing song „Versvs Christvs“ maybe, which is my favorite in the album along with the track „The Deathless Sun“
conclusion
I expected more respectively hoped, especially since Nergal had announced the album big and praised. Well as written earlier, you can let the album run well in the background. If you want it more active, I prefer older albums. Bad it is not, no, just merely rather bland, monotonous and rarely with clear recognition or unique selling point.It hurts me, but BEHEMOTH can do better, this is unfortunately clear.
