Jetzt geht es mal wieder richtig fett ab – kein Wunder, wenn Dan Weller ein Album produziert und die Truppe was drauf hat.

Wenn eine Band im selben Karpfenteich schwimmt, in welchem sich auch die FOO FIGHTERS, SHINEDOWN, BLACK STONE CHERRY oder ALTER BRIDGE tummeln, braucht man drei Dinge; perfekte Technik, enorme Kreativität und… Eier!
STONE BROKEN scheinen hier gut ausgestattet zu sein – ihr drittes Album „Revelation“ ist auf jeden Fall eine Hausnummer. Jepp, die Technik ist perfekt – was einerseits am genialen Producer Dan Weller liegt, andererseits an der Band. Chris Davis an der Gitarre, Rich Moss, Gesang und Gitarre, Robyn Haycock an den Drums und Kieron Conroy am Bass – sie alle wissen genau, was sie tun – kein falscher Ton, kein schräger Drumbeat, intelligentes Songwriting und Composing – die Jungs und das Mädel haben’s drauf.
Es fällt mir schwer, aus den fünfzehn Tracks Anspieltipps herauszusuchen. Nicht, weil die Songs nicht unterschiedlich wären. Auf dem Album finden sich beispielsweise „The Devil You Know“ und „This Revival“ jeweils in einer fett elektrischen und einer akustischen Version.
Mit „Make It Out Live“ liefern die Jungs einen Song, der vom Druck her auch von FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH stammen könnte. Auch zu den oben genannten Bands gibt es Bezüge, trotzdem zeigt das Album eine eigene Identität der Band, wo STONE BROKEN drauf steht ist STONE BROKEN drin, und zwar einhundert Prozent. Die Jungs liefern eine Mischung aus Grunge und Rock, teilweise gibt es Post Hardcore-Facetten. Und die Band kann sanft; „Me Without You“ ist eine epische, wunderschöne Ballade – packt eure Feuerzeug oder Handys aus, verdammt!
Nicht „ohne Grund“ liefern die Jungs auch richtige Hartholzbretter wie etwa „Without A Reason“, „So Damn Easy“ oder „Gimme Some More“.
Einige der Songs – klingen wie NICKELBACK, einfach besser. Die Kanadier haben ja einmal ein richtiges Album produziert gehabt – „Black Horse“ ist für mich ihre mit Abstand beste Scheibe. Und so ungefähr klingen viele der Songs – fett, kompakt und druckvoll!
Fazit
STONE BROKEN liefern mit „Revelation“ ein knackiges, hochprozentiges Album ohne Fehl und Tadel. Ich bin mir sicher, dass 2022 nicht mehr viele Alben in dieser Kampfklasse auf meinem Tisch landen werden – dafür ist die Scheibe einfach zu gut. In zwei Wochen könnt ihr das Album runterladen, im CD-Shop eures Vertrauens abholen oder Streamen, bis die Kabel glühen. Was immer – kaufen, kaufen, kaufen!

When a band swims in the same carp pond in which the FOO FIGHTERS, SHINEDOWN, BLACK STONE CHERRY or ALTER BRIDGE also cavort, you need three things; perfect technique, enormous creativity and… eggs!
STONE BROKEN seem to be well equipped here – their third album „Revelation“ is definitely a house number. Yep, the engineering is perfect – which is partly due to the ingenious producer Dan Weller, and partly due to the band. Chris Davis on guitar, Rich Moss, vocals and guitar, Robyn Haycock on drums and Kieron Conroy on bass – they all know exactly what they are doing – no wrong note, no weird drumbeat, intelligent songwriting and composing – the boys and the girl have got it.
I find it difficult to pick out any play-alongs from the fifteen tracks. Not because the songs are not different. For example, „The Devil You Know“ and „This Revival“ can be found on the album, each in a fat electric and an acoustic version.
With „Make It Out Live“, the guys deliver a song that could also come from FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH in terms of pressure. There are also references to the above-mentioned bands, yet the album shows the band’s own identity, where STONE BROKEN is on it, STONE BROKEN is in it, and one hundred percent. The guys deliver a mixture of grunge and rock, sometimes there are post hardcore facets. And the band can be gentle; „Me Without You“ is an epic, beautiful ballad – get your lighters or mobile phones out, dammit!
Not „without reason“ the guys also deliver real hardwood planks such as „Without A Reason“, „So Damn Easy“ or „Gimme Some More“.
Some of the songs – sound like NICKELBACK, just better. The Canadians once produced a real album – „Black Horse“ is by far their best record for me. And many of the songs sound like that – fat, compact and powerful!
Conclusion
STONE BROKEN deliver a crisp, high-percentage album without fault with „Revelation“. I’m sure that not many more albums in this fighting class will land on my desk in 2022 – the disc is just too good for that. In a fortnight you can download the album, pick it up at your local CD shop or stream it until the cables glow. Whatever – buy, buy, buy!
