Eine solche Truppe muss einem einfach sympathisch sein, die zurück aus der Hölle kommt, um dann dem Bier, dem Fleisch und dem Metal zu huldigen. Dass die deutschen Metaller das auch noch gut machen, erfreut das Herz der Freunde der härteren Töne.
Koblenz mag Provinz sein – STEELPREACHER stehen seit mittlerweile 20 Jahren im Auge des Metalsturmes. Mit „Back From Hell“ knallen euch Jens „Preacher“ Hübinger (Guitars, Vocals), Andi The Wicked (Guitars), Mu (Bass, Backing Vocals) und Hendrik Beerkiller (Drums) ihr sechstes Studioalbum vor den Latz oder die Füsse oder wo immer hin – Prost!

Bleibt die Frage, wieviel Hopfentee man intus haben muss, damit einem das Album gefällt. Ich gestehe zu meiner Schande, dass ich beim Verfassen dieser Rezension absolut nüchtern war. Halbwegs entschuldigend mag sein, dass es erst neun Uhr morgens ist…
Also, die Bieridee enthält 10 Tracks, welche dir voll in die Magengrube krachen, wenn du den Volumeregler ordentlich nach rechts schraubst – gibt es eigentlich auch Lautstärkeregler, die nach links drehen? Eher nicht, das bleibt dem Joghurt vorbehalten. Über dieses Milchprodukt schreibt die Band aber nicht – das Zentrum ihres Lebens ist definitiv das Bier – neben Fleisch, Hölle und Rock’n’Roll natürlich.
Zuerst einmal können die Jungs pompös und episch – das zeigen sie bei „Titanfall“. Geile Riffs und Gitarrensoli durchziehen das gesamte Album – bei „Masters Of The Underground“ treten sie besonders gekonnt zu Tage.
Ebenfalls durch das gesamte Album röhrt Mastermind und Gründungsmitglied Jens „Preacher“ Hübinger. Die Rhythmussektion tut, was es für ordentlichen Heavy Rock braucht – ein solides Fundament, das dafür sorgt, dass die Band nicht abstürzt und nicht einschläft. Wobei; einschlafen ist eh nicht – bei diesem organisierten Krach ist an ein Nickerchen nicht zu denken.
Klar finden sich beim Sound Anleihen anderer Bands AC/DC beispielsweise, vielleicht ein wenig MANOWAR, aber auch MEAT LOAF und andere Rockgrössen haben ihr musikalisches Serum hinterlassen.
Ein absolutes Brett ist übrigens der Opener „Here For The Beer“, der Track stünde auch AIRBOURNE gut an; vorwärts, nichts als vorwärts, Gefangene werden nicht gemacht, Zapfhähne nicht verschont.
Gibt es eigentlich Metal-Rockabilly? Jetzt schon, denn „Da Damn Booze“ klingt wie eine gestählte Version der STRAY CATS. „Wish You Were Beer“ ist so ziemlich der Übertrack – einerseits der Titel, andererseits das Tempo, die Reibeisenstimme des Preachers – volle Kanne Brecheisen!

Fazit

Man kann sagen, was man will – das Album ist ein Knaller. Wie würde der Aktienfuzzy sagen? Halten – kaufen!

You simply have to like such a troupe that comes back from hell to then pay homage to beer, meat and metal. The fact that the German metallers also do this well gladdens the heart of friends of the harder sounds.
Koblenz may be provincial – STEELPREACHER have been in the eye of the metal storm for 20 years now. With „Back From Hell“ Jens „Preacher“ Hübinger (guitars, vocals), Andi The Wicked (guitars), Mu (bass, backing vocals) and Hendrik Beerkiller (drums) slam their sixth studio album in your face or feet or wherever – cheers!

The question remains, how much hop tea do you have to have to like this album? I confess to my shame that I was absolutely sober when writing this review. Semi-excusable, perhaps, that it’s only nine o’clock in the morning….
So, the Beer Idea contains 10 tracks that will hit you full in the pit of your stomach if you turn the volume knob properly to the right – are there actually volume knobs that turn to the left? Probably not, that’s reserved for yoghurt. But the band doesn’t write about this dairy product – the centre of their life is definitely beer – besides meat, hell and rock’n’roll, of course.
First of all, the guys can be pompous and epic – they show that on „Titanfall“. Horny riffs and guitar solos run through the entire album – they come to the fore particularly skilfully on „Masters Of The Underground“.
Mastermind and founding member Jens „Preacher“ Hübinger also roars through the entire album. The rhythm section does what it takes for proper heavy rock – a solid foundation that ensures that the band doesn’t fall off and doesn’t fall asleep. But falling asleep isn’t possible anyway – with this organised noise, it’s impossible to think about a nap.
Sure, you can find borrowings from other bands AC/DC for example, maybe a little MANOWAR, but also MEAT LOAF and other rock greats have left their musical serum.
By the way, the opener „Here For The Beer“ is an absolute hit, the track would also suit AIRBOURNE; forward, nothing but forward, no prisoners are taken, taps are not spared.
Is there actually such a thing as metal rockabilly? There is now, because „Da Damn Booze“ sounds like a steeled version of the STRAY CATS. „Wish You Were Beer“ is pretty much the overtrack – on the one hand the title, on the other hand the tempo, the preacher’s grating voice – full-on crowbar!
