Mit „Cosmic Poetry“ gelingt den Schweizer Progressive Metallern ein fulminates Debut Album.

SINVERSE sind aus der Asche der Bands TIMOR und BEYOND THE VORTEX entstiegen und wurden 2018 von Simon Burri und Dave Schlumpf gegründet. David Caraffonara (SUNCOLD) und Valentin Bürgler (CRANE) haben die Zürcher progressive Metal Band komplettiert.

Mit „Cosmic Poetry“ lieferte das Quartett Mitte März seinen Erstling ab, der so überhaupt nicht „schweizerisch“ tönt. Vielleicht ist es auch langsam an der Zeit, dieses etwas despektierliche Etikett abzustreifen, denn was die Schweizer Musikszene in den letzten Jahren in unterschiedlichsten Stilrichtungen auf die Ohren der Welt losgelassen hat, kann international problemlos mithalten.

Dies gilt auch für SINVERSE, welche mit ihrem Erstling ein 9 Stücke umfassendes Konzeptwerk abgeliefert haben. Die Songs handeln von einer dystopischen Zukunft, in welcher die Menschheit ihre Verbundenheit zueinander verliert und ihr Bewusstsein in einem künstlichen Paradies vermeintlich Frieden findet, losgelöst von den sterblichen Körpern. Wie die Geschichte endet, kann jeder selbst auf „Cosmic Poetry“ nachhören.

Das Album beginnt mit dem Instrumental „Eternal Return“, welches stilistisch den Rahmen des Albums vorgibt. Mit „End Of Compassion“ folgt die erste Single und der textliche Einstieg in das Thema. Bereits wird klar, dass man es mit versierten Musikern zu tun hat, die eine moderne und songdienliche Form des Progressive Metal pflegen. Valentin weiss seine Stimme differenziert einzusetzen und die Rhythmus-Riege spielt auf den Punkt. „Drowning“ schlägt erst Mal in die gleiche Kerbe und trumpft mit einem reduzierten Piano-Mittelteil auf, um umgehend wieder aus den Vollen zu schöpfen.

„Pillars Of Creation“ ist die zweite Single-Auskopplung, welche zwischendurch auch ein paar ruhigere Töne anschlägt, während „Lost Within A Dream“ mit akustischer Gitarre beginnt. Mit 8 Minuten ist das Titelstück der Längste Track auf dem Album, das nach kurzweiligen 50 Minuten in „Full Circle“ seinen Schlussakkord findet.

Fazit

SINVERSE gelingt mit „Cosmic Poetry“ ein fulminanter Einstand. Mit ihrer Science-Fiction Geschichte hat die Band ein eigenes Universum geschaffen. So ergänzen die Texte die Musik und bilden eine durchgehende Einheit, die sich von Anfang bis Ende durchzieht. „Cosmic Poetry“ weckt die Lust auf mehr, und es bleibt zu hoffen, dass die Band ihren Weg konsequent fortsetzen kann.

The album begins with the instrumental „Eternal Return“, which stylistically sets the framework of the album. With „End Of Compassion“ follows the first single and the lyrical entry into the subject. Already it becomes clear that one is dealing with accomplished musicians who cultivate a modern and song-serving form of progressive metal. Valentin knows how to use his voice in a differentiated way and the rhythm section plays to the point. „Drowning“ first strikes in the same notch and trumps with a reduced piano middle section to immediately draw again from the full.

„Pillars Of Creation“ is the second single release, which also strikes a few quieter notes in between, while „Lost Within A Dream“ starts with acoustic guitar. With 8 minutes, the title track is the longest track on the album, which finds its final chord after an entertaining 50 minutes in „Full Circle“.
