©sharptonerecords | Die oberen Ränge der Heavy-Hiercharie müssen etwas Platz machen, denn die fünfköpfigen POLARIS aus dem Süden Sydneys kündigen ihr Debütalbum , »The Mortal Coil«, das am 3. November über SharpTone & Resist Records erscheinen wird, an.
POLARIS haben sich mit dem in Los Angeles, Kalifornien ansässigen Label SharpTone Records und Resist Records aus Sydney, Australien zusammen getan, um ihre Musik auf die internationalen Bühnen zu bringen.
»The Mortal Coil« wurde im POLARIS-eigenen Studio in Mollymook, NSW unter der Ägide des amerikanischen Produzenten-Teams Carson Slovak und Grant MacFarland von Atrium Audio aufgenommen. Das erfolgreiche Duo hat zeichnet unter anderem auch für Produktion und Mix des für einen Grammy nominierten AUGUST BURNS RED-Albums »Found In Far Away Places« verantwortlich.
Gitarrist Rick Schneider über die Aufnahmen von »The Mortal Coil«, „Recording »The Mortal Coil« was unlike any studio experience we’d had before, both in location and environment. A few hours south of Sydney we rented a holiday house, not knowing how well it would suit our needs. We managed to set up two work stations and quickly found ourselves in a focused, yet highly relaxed work environment. While stress would inevitably makes its way into the process, the end result is something we are all very proud of, and I’ll personally always look back on that month fondly.“
POLARIS stellen heute außerdem ihre brandneue Single sowie das dazugehörige Video ‚The Remedy‘. „The lyrics for this song are introspective in a very stark, critical way – it’s a song about feeling trapped by your own bad habits, feeling like you’re just stumbling around blindly making mistake after mistake without really learning anything from it. We’ve always tended mostly towards writing from a very personal, vulnerable place and I think lyrically there’s a lot of uncomfortable truths on this record.“ erklärt Drummer Daniel Furnari.

„Filming for The Remedy took place over a single afternoon at mine and Daniels old high school, who were kind enough to let us use their green screen. Unlike previous videos we’ve done, we all shot our takes individually which posed as somewhat of a challenge without other people playing around us to feed off of. We chose to work with the guys at Red Boss again as we felt they suited the project and were really able to guide and expand on the idea that we had.“ so Bassist/Sänger Jake Steinhauser.
Wer POLARIS die Bühnen zerlegen sehen will, muss nicht lange warten, denn das Quintett wird als Teil der renommierten Never Say Die! tour mit ihren Labelkollegen EMMURE, DEEZ NUTS, CHELSEA GRIN, KUBLAI KHAN, SWORN IN und LORNA SHORE durch Europa touren.
Drei Jahre ununterbrochenen Tourens, Grenzen auslotenden Schreibens und DIY Aufnahmen haben POLARIS eine Armee and Fans eingebracht, auf die viele andere Bands der Szene nur neidisch sein können. All dies führte im Januar 2016 zur Veröffentlichung von »The Guilt & The Grief«. Wo die meisten anderen eigenveröffentlichten EPs nur als schwaches Lichtlein auf dem Radar wahrgenommen werden, stiegen POLARIS auf #34 der nationalen ARIA Charts ein und ergatterten einen umwerfenden #2 in AIR Polls!
Die Band teilte bereits die Bühne mit den Prog-Metal-Fanatikern PERIPHERY und NORTHLANE, HELLIONS, PARKWAY DRIVE und waren erst kürzlich mit der britischen Wuchtbrumme WHILE SHE SLEEPS, den japanischen CROSSFAITH und IN HEARTS WAKE auf deren massiver Ark tour durch das ganze Land unterwegs.
