KALEDON – „Legend Of The Forgotten Reign, Chapter 7: Evil Awakens“
Eine Ode an den Erfinder der Copy&Paste Funktion.

Bislang habe ich noch nichts von KALEDON gehört, gesehen oder gelesen. Unvorbelastet mache ich mich also daran, mir „Legend Of The Forgotten Reign, Chapter 7: Evil Awakens“ (ja, ich tu den Titel als mittels Copy&Paste einfügen, den jedes Mal zu schreiben tue ich mir nicht an) auf die Ohren zu geben. Eröffnet wird das Album durch „Renascentia Noctis“, einem knapp 2 Minütigen Intro, das es schon mal nicht wirklich gebraucht hätte, da es thematisch über das Album gesehen völlig alleine dasteht und keinerlei Bezug zu den weiteren Songs aufnimmt.
Dann aber geht es mit „At The Gates Of The Realm“ so richtig los und KALEDON schöpfen sogleich aus den Vollen. Wuchtige Gitarren, Double-Bass Orgien, ein Chor, Synthesizer und ein klarer, powervoller Gesang dringen durch meine Ohren in die Musikrezeptoren meines Gehirns. Die Marschrichtung ist gelegt, auch „A Strike From The Unknown“ schlägt in die selbe Presche und zu meiner Freude sind die Keyboards und Synthesizer ein mittragendes Element und nicht nur Beilage. Hier schlägt die Stimme partiell in hysterisch-böses Geschrei um, um dann im Refrain wieder sauber und klar über dem Chor zu schweben.
„The Eye Of The Storm“ wartet mit einem Synthy-Solo auf, und KALEDON wissen auf „Legend Of…“, ach, ihr wisst schon, den Hörer bei Laune zu halten. Die Grundfarbe bildet allerdings immer der Power Metal mit verschiedenen Farbtupfern. Mit „The Storya Comes To An End…?“ endet das Album und ich befürchte, ein achtes Kapitel mit vermutlich noch längerem Namen wird nicht unumgänglich sein. Denn irgendwie muss das erwachte Böse doch wieder dahin zurück geschickt werden, wo es hergekommen ist. Was die Musik angeht, eine schöne Aussicht.
Fazit
Ohne mich weiter mit der Story um die vergessene Herrschaft auseinanderzusetzen, kann „Legend Of The Forgotten Reign, Chapter 7: Evil Awakens“ über die 50 Minuten Albumlänge unterhalten. Einzig der Sound/Mix des Albums scheint etwas unausgegoren und trübt den Hörgenuss ein wenig. Stellenweise tönt der Power Metal wie eine Ansammlung von Lärm und die einzelnen Instrumente und Schichten sind zu wenig voneinander getrennt wahrnehmbar. Aber: Musik lauter aufdrehen, dann kommt es auch nicht mehr drauf an.

So far I have not heard, seen or read anything about KALEDON. So, unbiased, I set out to get „Legend Of The Forgotten Reign, Chapter 7: Evil Awakens“ (yes, I’m doing the title as via copy&paste, I don’t bother writing that every time) on my ears. The album is opened by „Renascentia Noctis“, a nearly 2 minute intro, which it would not really have needed, since it stands thematically seen over the album completely alone and takes up no reference to the further songs.
But then it really gets going with „At The Gates Of The Realm“ and KALEDON immediately draw from the full. Massive guitars, double-bass orgies, a choir, synthesizers and clear, powerful vocals penetrate through my ears into the music receptors of my brain. The direction of march is laid, also „A Strike From The Unknown“ strikes into the same Presche and to my joy the keyboards and synthesizers are a carrying element and not only garnish. Here the vocals partially turn into hysterical evil screaming, only to float cleanly and clearly above the chorus again in the chorus.
„The Eye Of The Storm“ comes up with a synthy solo, and KALEDON know how to keep the listener happy on „Legend Of…“, oh, you know. The basic color, however, is always Power Metal with various splashes of color. With „The Storya Comes To An End…?“ the album ends and I’m afraid an eighth chapter with probably even longer name won’t be inevitable. Because somehow the awakened evil must be sent back to where it came from. As for the music, a nice prospect.
conclusion
Without delving further into the Forgotten Reign storyline, „Legend Of The Forgotten Reign, Chapter 7: Evil Awakens“ is able to entertain over its 50 minute album length. Only the sound/mix of the album seems a bit unfinished and clouds the listening pleasure a bit. At times the power metal sounds like a collection of noise and the individual instruments and layers are too little perceptible separately from each other. But: turn up the music louder, then it doesn’t matter anymore.
