Keine Angst, mir ist klar, dass die Band ihren Namen bewusst so geschrieben hat, dass das so ein Wortspielchen ist. Und ja, es geht um Prohibition, Alkohol und Mord und Totschlag. Dafür sind nicht nur die Maschinenpistolensalven zuständig, sondern auch der knackige, ballernde Sound.
Verantwortlich für diese Geschichte sind Alex Kraft – Vocals, Guitars, Andi Kiesel – Guitars, Manuel Mandrysch – Bass und Lars Nippa – Drums. Nicht zu vergessen ist der frühere Mitkämpfer Tom „Sodom“ Angelripper als Gast. Was es da noch zu sagen gäbe – es gibt ein neues Genre – Western Metal, wobei man das ebenso gut Southern Rock/Metal nennen könnte.
Auf jeden Fall – die Scheibe ist richtig fett, knallt dir nach dem Motto „Sind sie zu stark, bist du zu schwach“ um die Ohren und tief in die Magengrube. Die Rhythmusfraktion Rippa/Mandrysch hat ganz schön zu arbeiten, Erholungspausen gibt es da nicht. Die Gitarren sind fett – fetter – am fettesten, so klingt geiles Riffing. Falls du dir da an einem traulichen Abend zur Musik noch einen Moonshiner reinknallst, könnte es gut sein, dass du erblindest. Nicht wegen des Whiskeys, sondern weil es dir bei entsprechender Power deine Sehkugeln durchs Hirn nach hinten ballert. Eines ist klar, die Musik muss laut. Basslastige, wummernde HipHop-Kopfhörer sind der Tod, da müssen entweder Ohrhörer der Marke Heavys ran oder Kühlschränke mit Lautsprechern drin. Bemühen wir doch das gute alte Sprichwort: „Meine Nachbarn hören geile Mucke – ob sie wollen oder nicht.“
Fazit
DEZPERADOZ sind seit 25 Jahren unterwegs und beweisen, dass guter Rock und guter Wein etwas gemeinsam haben – sie reifen mit dem Alter. „Moonshiner“ ist ein Album, das man sich auf jeden Fall antun darf – antun sollte – antun muss!

Don’t worry, I realise that the band deliberately wrote their name in such a way that it’s a play on words. And yes, it’s about prohibition, alcohol and murder and manslaughter. It’s not just the machine-gun salvos that are responsible for this, but also the crisp, blasting sound.

What else is there to say – there is a new genre – Western Metal, although you could just as well call it Southern Rock/Metal.
In any case – the disc is really fat, bangs around your ears and deep into the pit of your stomach according to the motto „If they’re too strong, you’re too weak“. The Rippa/Mandrysch rhythm section has a lot of work to do, there are no breaks for rest. The guitars are fat – fatter – fattest, that’s how cool riffing sounds. If you pop a moonshine on a cosy evening with the music, you might well go blind. Not because of the whiskey, but because, with the right amount of power, it will send your vision balls flying backwards through your brain. One thing is clear, the music has to be loud. Bass-heavy, booming hip-hop headphones are death, you either have to use Heavys earphones or fridges with speakers in them. Let’s try the good old saying: „My neighbours listen to great music – whether they like it or not.“
Conclusion
DEZPERADOZ have been on the road for 25 years and prove that good rock and good wine have something in common – they mature with age. „Moonshiner“ is an album that you can definitely do – should do – must do!
