DEVILSBRIDGE – Abrissbirne aus der Schweiz mit „Sense Of“

Da scheint mir die Bezeichnung „Melodic Metal“ aus den Promounterlagen doch etwas zu kurz zu greifen…

So, dass die Frontfrau Dani heisst, habe ich mittlerweile rausgefunden, zudem spielt Tom Gitarre und JC Drums. Den Rest spar ich mir, weil ja eh niemand was mit sly, jdc, omg, ffm oder so anfangen kann. Hingegen weiss ich, dass das Trüppchen aus der beschaulichen Region Wil in der Ostschweiz stammt und damit quasi vor meiner Haustür wohnt – was für diese Review nicht weiter von Belang ist.
Die Metallerkapelle gibt es seit 2013, bisher wurden verschiedene Singles und eine EP veröffentlicht.

Damit alles kurz und knackig bleibt, hat sich die Band bei den Titeln auf einzelne Worte beschränkt – mit der einen Ausnahme „Seventh Sense“. Ebenfalls eine Ausnahme ist die einzige Ballade „Pain“.
Ansonsten finden sich auf dem Album elf vollwertige Tracks und ein Intro. Musikalisch würde ich eher von Power Metal sprechen – es gibt auch gewisse Ähnlichkeiten wie bei Noora Louhimo’s BATTLE BEAST. Die Songs ähneln sich von der Struktur her, vom Riffing – sind aber weder eintönig noch langweilig. Die Musik ist einfach konsistent – „what you await is what you get“.
Das Songwriting und die Instrumentalisierung sind nicht spektakulär, dafür kompakt und powervoll. Dominiert wird der Sound ganz und gar von Dani’s Stimme – sie ist das Alleinstellungsmerkmal einer insgesamt überzeugenden Band.
Noch haut mich der Sound nicht aus den Socken, ist mir noch zu „standardisiert“. Ich suche nach den musikalischen Ecken und Kanten – und finde sie nicht. Tipp an die Band – findet für euch heraus, was euch eigen ist und setzt das musikalisch in Szene. Potenzial ist genügend vorhanden.

Fazit

„Sense Of“ ist ein Powermetal-Album mit fettem und präzisem Riffing, treibenden Drums und einer starken Stimme. Noch sticht die Scheibe nicht so richtig aus der Menge an melodischen oder powervollen ähnlicher Metalbands heraus – das kann aber noch werden. Und damit die Band auch die entsprechende Motivation und Unterstützung erhält – kaufen!

Einen Tag vor der Releaseparty vom 15.10.22 im GARE DE LION in Wil wird die Band ihr zweites Video zum Album veröffentlichen: „Illusion“. Stay Tuned!

On the other hand, I know that the trüppchen comes from the tranquil region of Wil in eastern Switzerland and thus lives virtually on my doorstep – which is not further relevant to this review.
The metalic band exists since 2013, so far various singles and an EP were released.

To keep everything short and crisp, the band has limited the titles to single words – with the one exception being „Seventh Sense.“ Also an exception is the single ballad „Pain“.
Other than that, there are eleven full tracks and one intro on the album. Musically I would rather speak of Power Metal – there are also certain similarities like Noora Louhimo’s BATTLE BEAST. The songs are similar in structure, riffing – but are neither monotonous nor boring. The music is simply consistent – „what you await is what you get“.
The songwriting and instrumentation are not spectacular, but compact and powerful. The sound is dominated entirely by Dani’s voice – she is the unique selling point of an overall convincing band.
Still the sound does not knock my socks off, is still too „standardized“ for me. I’m looking for the musical corners and edges – and do not find them. Tip to the band – find out for you what is peculiar to you and put that musically in scene. There is enough potential.

conclusion

„Sense Of“ is a powermetal album with fat and precise riffing, driving drums and a strong voice. Still the disc doesn’t really stand out from the crowd of melodic or powermetal similar metal bands – but this can still become. And so that the band also receives the appropriate motivation and support – buy!
