Neben Bands wie Kreator zählen die Thrasher um „Schmier“ wahrlich zu den Königen des deutschen Thrash und sind seit ewig aus der Szene nicht mehr wegzudenken.
Gerade noch auf Tour, um ihr 40-jähriges Jubiläum auf den Bühnen Europas und Südamerikas gebührend zu feiern, zeigen die Teutonen-Thrasher Destruction keinerlei Ermüdungserscheinungen und legen mit ihrem neuen Hammer Birth Of Malice ordentlich nach.
Produziert von der Schweizer Ikone V.O. Pulver (Poltergeist, Messiah, GurD), präsentiert das Album die immer wieder beeindruckende Gitarrenarbeit von Damir Eskić und Martin Furia, während Randy Black (Schlagzeug) und Schmier (Bass, Vocals) das kraftvolle Fundament liefern. Schmiers markante, aggressiv-kehlige Vocals sind einmal mehr das wütende Aushängeschild der Band und transportieren die textliche Wut mit gnadenloser Präzision.
Der Opener Destruction dient als energische Selbsthommage und dürfte sich rasch als neue Hymne etablieren – auch live mit Sicherheit ein echter Hingucker. Songs wie das rasante No Kings – No Masters oder die düstere Walze A.N.G.S.T. unterstreichen die Vielseitigkeit des Albums.
Mein persönlicher Favorit: Scumbag Human Race – eine brutale Mischung aus Dampfhammer, Hass und Groove.
Fazit:
Birth of Malice ist, meiner Meinung nach, ein sehr solides Album. Es wird hier nicht zwingend das Thrash-Rad neu erfunden – was es aber auch gar nicht braucht. Destruction beweisen eindrucksvoll, dass sie auch nach vier Jahrzehnten nichts von ihrer Energie und Kreativität eingebüsst haben und sich immer noch zu den Top-Bands des Genres zählen dürfen.
Das Album verbindet klassische Thrash-Elemente mit frischer Energie und dürfte sowohl langjährige Fans als auch neue Hörer abholen.
Ein absolut starkes Album, das seinen festen Platz in meiner Playlist gefunden hat!

Alongside bands like Kreator, the thrashers around frontman „Schmier“ are rightfully considered kings of Teutonic-Thrash-Metal and have been an integral part of the scene for what feels like forever.
Fresh off a tour celebrating their 40th anniversary across stages in Europe and South America, the Teutonic thrashers Destruction show absolutely no signs of slowing down and deliver big time with their latest beast of an album, Birth of Malice.
Produced by Swiss icon V.O. Pulver (Poltergeist, Messiah, GurD), the album showcases the consistently impressive guitar work of Damir Eskić and Martin Furia, while Randy Black (drums) and Schmier (bass, vocals) lay down a thunderous foundation. Schmier’s distinctive, aggressively raspy vocals once again serve as the band’s raging signature and channel the lyrical fury with merciless precision.
The opener Destruction acts as a fierce self-tribute and is bound to become a new anthem for the band — sure to leave an impression live as well. Tracks like the blistering No Kings – No Masters and the crushing A.N.G.S.T. highlight the album’s range and versatility.
My personal favourite: Scumbag Human Race — a brutal blend of sledgehammer riffs, hatred, and groove.
Conclusion:
In my opinion, Birth of Malice is a rock-solid album. It doesn’t reinvent the thrash metal — nor does it have to. Destruction prove with full force that even after four decades, they’ve lost none of their energy or creativity, and still belong among the elite of the genre.
The album fuses classic thrash elements with fresh energy and is sure to resonate with longtime fans and new listeners alike.
An absolutely killer record that has earned a firm spot in my playlist!
