Okay, da hat der gute Mann und Multiinstrumentalist mal wieder deutlich mehr geleistet, als ein Brick-Video zum Track „Der Hund Von Baskerville“.
Für einmal hat er sich bedeutende Songs geschnappt, eingedeutscht und mit illustren Gästen garniert. Und wieder zeigt er, dass er auf vielen Instrumenten zuhause ist und ein kreatives Bürschchen obendrein.
Und ja, sorry, ich komme erst eine knappe Woche nach dem Releasedatum. Gibt halt auch ein Leben neben Rocknews und einen Brotjob, der manchmal etwas Vorrang geniesst.
Meine grösste Aufgabe bei diesem Album war somit die Tracklist. Meinem Alter ist geschuldet, dass ich die meisten Tracks erkannt, die Originale gekannt und somit meine enormen Musikkenntnisse in den verschiedensten Genres bewiesen habe. Selbst wenn mir das Album nicht gefallen hätte, herauszufinden, dass hier Bands und KünstlerInnen wie MOODY BLUES, JERMAINE JACKSON, ABBA, der allseits beliebte DAVID „The Hoff“ HASSELHOFF oder THE MAMAS & THE PAPAS.
Aber das Album hat mir gefallen. Dabei ist es weniger die musikalische Qualität. Technisch sind die Tracks sauber gespielt, keine Frage. Die musikalische Power hingegen kommt von den Originalen – was Cover ja so an sich haben.
Was mir aber richtig gefallen hat, ist die deutsche Umsetzung – und die Gästeliste. Mambo Kurt, Frank Zander, Voodoma – wie kommt der gute Mann zu diesen Typen? Eine gloriose Leistung und ein mehr als cooles Projekt. Die Unbeschwertheit und den Mut zur Komik, den Ben Blutzukker hier zeigt, würde man manchem bierernsten Künstler oder mancher Band mit depressiver Attitüde gut anstehen. Selbstverständlich nenn ich hier keine Namen…
Fazit
Klar, dieses Album wird kein Chartstürmer – soll es wohl auch nicht. Aber es macht Spass, und das ist in dieser Zeit wichtiger denn je. Solange die amerikanische Kürbisbirne den Planeten ins Chaos stürmt und GegenspielerInnen mit Eiern fehlen, solange nehmen wir gerne jede Gelegenheit, das Ganze mit Humor zu nehmen.
Kaufen oder nicht? Kaufen, damit Ben weiterhin genügend Lego kaufen kann um seine originellen Brick Videos zu produzieren!

Okay, once again, this talented man and multi-instrumentalist has achieved much more than just a brick video for the track „Der Hund Von Baskerville“.
For once, he has taken significant songs, translated them into German and garnished them with illustrious guests. And once again, he shows that he is at home on many instruments and is a creative young man to boot.
And yes, sorry, I’m only getting around to this a week after the release date. There is life beyond rock news and a day job that sometimes takes precedence.
My biggest task with this album was therefore the track list. Thanks to my age, I recognised most of the tracks, knew the originals and thus demonstrated my enormous knowledge of music in a wide variety of genres. Even if I hadn’t liked the album, finding out that bands and artists such as MOODY BLUES, JERMAINE JACKSON, ABBA, the ever-popular DAVID „The Hoff“ HASSELHOFF and THE MAMAS & THE PAPAS were featured was a treat.
But I did like the album. It’s not so much the musical quality. Technically, the tracks are cleanly played, no question. The musical power, on the other hand, comes from the originals – which is what covers are all about.
But what I really liked was the German rendition – and the guest list. Mambo Kurt, Frank Zander, Voodoma – how did the good man come across these guys? A glorious achievement and a more than cool project. The light-heartedness and courage to be funny that Ben Blutzukker displays here would suit many a deadly serious artist or band with a depressive attitude. Of course, I’m not naming any names here…
Conclusion
Sure, this album won’t be a chart-topper – nor is it meant to be. But it’s fun, and that’s more important than ever these days. As long as the American pumpkin head plunges the planet into chaos and opponents are missing eggs, we’ll gladly take every opportunity to take it all with a sense of humour.
Buy or not? Buy, so that Ben can continue to buy enough Lego to produce his original brick videos!
