Bad Omen Records announces first signings

BAD OMEN RISINGFormed in 2013, Bad Omen is a fiercely independent record label dedicated exclusively to Heavy Rock, with a focus on old school values and traditions. Founded by Will Palmer, following 18 years at London based imprint Rise Above Records, its first signings include English Motörized Rock ’n‘ Roll rebels Asomvel, The Tower; a psychedelia-seeped rock cult hailing from Upsalla Sweden, Satan’s Satyrs; the highly tipped young “dungeon rock” outfit from Virginia, USA and Stockholm’s own CC Company; an adrenalized power trio featuring members of Enforcer and Tribulation.

Before the new breed of bullet belt boy-bands were even born, Asomvel were already known as a bludgeoning live proposition!   Throughout their 20-year existence the band has been turning it up to ten and belting out meanspirited rock and roll, shooting from the hip and singing it as they saw it.  Currently deep in pre-production for their second full-length release with producer James Atkinson (engineer, producer and frontman of Leeds‘ hard rock explosion, Gentleman’s Pistols) Asomvel will hit the studio in mid-June, to commit a short, sharp shock of amped up, stripped down heavy force onto tape for a September release.

CC Company are a new punked-up, Heavy Metal trio from Stockholm, Sweden featuring three already prolific musicians from that underground scene; Joseph Tholl on vocals and guitar (also of Enforcer/Black Trip), Tobias Lindqvist on bass (also of Enforcer and Dead Lord) and Jonkka Andersson on drums (Tribulation/Stench). These three friends have come together to celebrate their love of hard drinking, hard partying and hard rocking. Their debut, self titled, 7” has been mastered at Orgone Studios by Jamie Gomez Arellano (Ghost, Angel Witch, Hexvessel) and is slated for a September release.

The Tower deliver bad luck  boogie and timeless blues rock with a mystical edge. As soon as they posted their demo (soon to be released as a 12” via the Dybbuk label) online they started to build a reputation for their manipulation of dark and light, fusing a pumping groove with hypnotic riffs and epic prophetic lyricism. Inspired as much by West Coast ’60s rock as they are by the classic proto-doom metal bands of the following decade, The Tower describe themselves as „a constant struggle between the Dionysian and the Appolonian, between order and chaos, hypnosis and being awake.“   The band are heading to Studio Underjord in Norrkoping, Sweden this summer to record their first LP for Bad Omen Records due for an autumn release.

Something wicked from Herndon, Virginia this way comes. Raised on riffs and cult VHS flicks, Satan’s Satyrs combine the super-fuzz garage sensibilities of Detroit in ’65 and the heaviness of contemporary doom and through a series of ultra-limited singles and EPs have become one of the most talked up underground bands of 2013. Just ask Roadburn Festival, they were so psyched to have them play that they performed twice, first as personally selected guests of Electric Wizard at the Electric Acid Orgy and then a day later performing a set completely dedicated to Blue Cheer.   The band will record their second full-length album in the autumn of 2013 for an early 2014 release on Bad Omen in the UK & Europe and Trash King Productions in the USA.
