SERAINA TELLI ist mittlerweile definitiv die Speerspitze der Rockstimmen. Da gibt es andere wie ANNA MURPHY oder MELISSA BONNY, die eine ist aktuell aber nicht aktiv unterwegs, die andere ordnete sich in einem anderen Genre ein. Nach beachtlichen Erfolgen mit ihrem letzten Album „Addicted To Color“ und Livetouren mit THE NEW ROSES, CORE LEONI und keinem Geringeren als BRYAN ADAMS sowie der Nominierung zu den Swiss Music Awards ist klar, wo die Sängerin heute steht.

Jetzt kommt mit „Black’n’White Sessions“ ihr neues Album – erfreulicherweise nicht zum Black Friday mit 100% Rabatt.
Das mit den 30 Tracks muss ich ein wenig revidieren – es sind „nur“ 15 – eigentlich. Jeder erscheint also doppelt auf dem Album und ist trotzdem total unterschiedlich. Seraina hat sich nicht nur einige ihrer Songs gekrallt und sie akustisch neu eingespielt, sie hat auch gleich jede Menge Gäste eingeladen, ihr bei den „zweiten“ Versionen zur Seite zu stehen. Und das Lineup kann sich mehr als sehen lassen.
Beim Titeltrack mischt ANNA MURPHY mit ihrem Hurdy Gurdy mit, BRITTA GÖRTZ – ihres Zeichens Sängerin von CRITICAL MESS und Growling-Vocalcoach verleiht „Addicted To Color“ etwas Reibeisenfeeling. CLEMENTINE DELAUYNEY von VISIONS OF ATLANTIS ist ebenso dabei wie Rocklegende LEE AARON, Blueser MARC AMACHER, CALICO COOPER, die deutsche Band OHRENFEINDT ebenso wie JOHN DIVA AND THE ROCKETS OF LOVE.

Was genau macht das mit dem Album? Besser machen braucht man die Songs nicht, was SERAINA bisher geliefert hat, ist bereits Rock-Spitzenklasse. Es geht mehr darum, die eine oder andere Duftnote oder Geschmacksexplosion zuzugeben. Das Ergebnis ist fast durchgehend Spitzenklasse. CHRIS BOLTENDAHL von GRAVEDIGGER vermochte mich nicht zu überzeugen, irgendwie passt seine extreme Reibeisenstimme nicht zu „Wish You Well“ – dürfte aber Geschmackssache sein.
Sehr gelungen ist das Experiment mit den Rappern von RAPTURE BOY, „Remedy“ mit MARC AMACHER finde ich persönlich einen der stärksten Songs, eine richtige coole Blues-Rock-Verschmelzung.
Auch ALICE COOPER-Tochter CALICO zeigt bei „Medusa“ Kante, die Jungs von OHRENFEINDT liebe ich ja sowieso – gemeinsam mit Frau TELLI sind die grandios.
Auf dem Albumpodestplatz Nummer eins steht für mich „My Way“ mit JOHN DIVA AND THE ROCKETS OF LOVE. Nicht nur, weil es mutig ist, einen solchen Track zu covern, sondern weil es geradezu grandios ist, die Rockröhre aus ihrer Komfortzone zu holen und zwei Stimmen so zu vereinigen, dass ein enorm harmonischer Song entstanden ist.

Fazit

Was SERAINA TELLI hier abliefert, ist wirklich grandios und müsste definitiv auf dem ersten Platz der Alben-Charts landen. Kaufen soll man das Ding sowieso und zwar gleich mehrfach – Weihnachten steht vor der Tür!

SERAINA TELLI is now definitely the spearhead of rock vocals. There are others like ANNA MURPHY or MELISSA BONNY, but the former is currently not active on the road, and the latter has moved into a different genre. After considerable success with her last album ‘Addicted To Colour’ and live tours with THE NEW ROSES, CORE LEONI and none other than BRYAN ADAMS, as well as being nominated for the Swiss Music Awards, it is clear where the singer stands today.

Now, with ‘Black’n’White Sessions’, her new album is coming – fortunately not for Black Friday with a 100% discount.

I have to revise the 30 tracks a little – there are ‘only’ 15 – actually. Each one appears twice on the album and is still totally different. Seraina didn’t just grab some of her songs and re-record them acoustically, she also invited a bunch of guests to help her with the ‘second’ versions. And the lineup is more than impressive.

ANNA MURPHY’s hurdy gurdy can be heard on the title track, while BRITTA GÖRTZ – singer of CRITICAL MESS and growl vocal coach – lends ‘Addicted To Color’ something of a raspy feel. CLEMENTINE DELAUYNEY from VISIONS OF ATLANTIS is also on board, as are rock legend LEE AARON, bluesman MARC AMACHER, CALICO COOPER, the German band OHRENFEINDT and JOHN DIVA AND THE ROCKETS OF LOVE.

What exactly does that do to the album? You don’t need to make the songs better; what SERAINA has delivered so far is already top-notch rock. It’s more about adding a scent or a taste explosion. The result is top class almost across the board. CHRIS BOLTENDAHL from GRAVEDIGGER didn’t convince me, somehow his extreme raspy voice doesn’t go with ‘Wish You Well’ – but that might be a matter of taste.

The experiment with the rappers from RAPTURE BOY is very successful, and I personally think ‘Remedy’ with MARC AMACHER is one of the strongest songs, a really cool blues-rock fusion.

ALICE COOPER’s daughter CALICO also shows her edge on ‘Medusa’, and I love the guys from OHRENFEINDT anyway – together with Frau TELLI they’re terrific.

For me, the number one album is ‘My Way’ by JOHN DIVA AND THE ROCKETS OF LOVE. Not only because it’s brave to cover a track like this, but because it’s absolutely fantastic to take the rock diva out of her comfort zone and combine two voices in such a way that an enormously harmonious song is created.

Conclusion

What SERAINA TELLI delivers here is truly magnificent and should definitely top the album charts. You should buy this thing anyway, and in fact several times – Christmas is just around the corner!
