APRIL ART – „Rodeo“ kommt am vierten Oktober

Mit APRIL ART meldet sich nämlich eine Band mit ihrem dritten Album, die mehr als nur Potenzial für die grossen Bühnen hat – sie gehören da hin!

Lisa-Marie Watz – Vocals, Benjamin Juelg – Schlagzeug, Julian Schuetze – Gitarre und Chris Bunnell – Bass – das sind APRIL ART. Die Band aus Mittelhessen hat bereits beim ROCKPALAST gespielt, war auf WACKEN, ist sich aber nicht zu schön, um auch kleinste Clubs zu bespielen. So geht das, wenn man Musik hat, die knallt, die auch überzeugt, wenn keine grosse Labelmaschinerie und Promowalze dahinter steht.
Wobei ich Reaper Entertainment durchaus nicht für unbedeutend halte.
Was hat die Truppe also zu bieten?

„Rodeo“ ist eine Hausnummer, ein verfluchter Abbruchhammer mit einigen sanfteren Seiten. Das gilt etwa für die akustische Version von „Not Sorry“, ganz im Gegensatz etwa zu „Burn“, da wird gleich einmal die ganze Welt abgefackelt. APRIL ART machen keine Kompromisse, ihre Mischung aus Rock und Metal, angereichert mit etwas Elektro erinnert zwar an ELECTRIC CALLBOY, ist aber trotzdem ganz anders. Erstens gibt es da nur Klargesang – auch wenn der unheimlich druckvoll ist. Das „böse“ Mädchen Lisa-Marie drückt ab, als ob es kein Morgen gäbe. Sie wird unterstützt durch den grandiosen Gitarristen Julian Schuetze – man beachte sein Solo auf „Burn“ – und eine hochpräzise Bass- und Drumbasis. Damit lösen sie die zentralen Versprechen ein, welche dieses Genre einfordert.

Natürlich steht die Band mit Frontfrau auch an vorderster Front, wenn es darum geht, den metallenenn Männerkuchen aufzuweichen. Allerdings braucht Frau Walz dazu keine Quoten – sie überzeugt, sie kennt den Job, ihr Handwerk ist mehr als solide. Diese Truppe ist definitiv „selfmade“ – das Album haben sie im bandeigenen Studio aufgenommen, Drummer Benjamin Juelg ist also auch Produzent.
Weitere Anspieltipps gefällig? Die Elektro-Rock-Nummer „Jackhammer“ etwa, oder das grandiose „Head Up High“ – Nummern, die Moshpit-Potenzial haben. Alles druckvoll, alles roh und trotzdem perfekt komponiert und auf hohem Niveau gemastert – was will man mehr? Nur eines noch – Live-Experience gerne!

Fazit

Wenn APRIL ART mit ihrem dritten Album nicht der grosse Durchbruch gelingen sollte, weiss ich nicht… Das ist ein grandioses Album einer grandiosen Band – holt euch das Ding anfangs Oktober – oder noch besser; kauft eine CD an einem der Konzerte – das hilft der Band am meisten!

APRIL ART are a band with their third album that has more than just potential for the big stages – they belong there!
Lisa-Marie Watz – Vocals, Benjamin Juelg – Drums, Julian Schuetze – Guitar and Chris Bunnell – Bass – that’s APRIL ART. The band from Central Hesse has already played at ROCKPALAST and WACKEN, but is not too nice to play even the smallest clubs. That’s how it goes when you have music that bangs, that convinces even when there’s no big label machinery and promo roll behind it. Although I don’t consider Reaper Entertainment to be insignificant.
So what does the band have to offer?

„Rodeo“ is a house number, a cursed demolition hammer with some softer sides. This applies, for example, to the acoustic version of „Not Sorry“, in complete contrast to „Burn“ where the whole world is set on fire. APRIL ART make no compromises, their mixture of rock and metal, enriched with a little electro, is reminiscent of ELECTRIC CALLBOY, but is still very different. Firstly, there are only clear vocals – even if they are incredibly powerful. The ‘bad’ girl, Lisa-Marie, is pushing the envelope like there’s no tomorrow. She is supported by the magnificent guitarist Julian Schuetze – check out his solo on „Burn“ – and a highly precise bass and drum base. They thus fulfil the central promises that this genre demands.
Of course, the band and its front woman are also at the forefront when it comes to softening the metal man cake. However, Mrs Walz doesn’t need quotas to do this – she is convincing, she knows the job and her craft is more than solid. This band is definitely ‘self-made’ – they recorded the album in the band’s own studio, so drummer Benjamin Juelg is also the producer.
Fancy some more tips? The electro-rock number „Jackhammer“, for example, or the magnificent „Head Up High“ – numbers that have mosh pit potential. All powerful, all raw and yet perfectly composed and mastered to a high standard – what more could you want? Just one more thing – I’d love a live experience!

Conclusion

If APRIL ART don’t make the big breakthrough with their third album, I don’t know… This is a great album by a great band – get it at the beginning of October – or even better; buy a CD at one of the concerts – that will help the band the most!
