Wenn die Queen Of Metal Doro Pesch ein Album veröffentlicht, kann man eigentlich sicher sein, dass man was für sein Geld kriegt – aber gleich 20 Tracks? Das ist mal eine Hausnummer.

Kann man es sich eigentlich erlauben, Ihrer Majestät die volle Punktzahl zu verweigern? Schliesslich war die Dame seit 1982 mit WARLOCK im Business, seit 1989 ist sie als DORO unterwegs. Und schliesslich liefert sie auf dem neuen Album gleich 20 Tracks ab, also 15 und 15 Bonustracks.
Trotzdem, so wie ich DORO kenne, würde sie keine Gefälligkeitsreviews wollen und auch keine Fleissnoten. Und das ist auch gar nicht nötig, denn auch bei Studioalbum Nummer 14 zeigt die Düsseldorferin, wo der Metalhammer hängt. Bleiben wir gleich bei der Frage, die eigentlich immer auftaucht, wenn jemand schon so lange im Geschäft ist – bietet das Album etwas Neues, zeigt es eine Entwicklung? Mir persönlich reicht es ja, wenn sich Bands treu bleiben und gute Tracks abliefern. Wenn das Ganze dann noch Spass macht und Abwechslung bietet, umso besser. Seien wir ehrlich – wer will eine DORO, die sich laufend neu erfindet? Nobody! Dafür wollen wir eine DORO, die ihr Potenzial ausschöpft, ihre Erfahrung und Musikalität umsetzt. DORO kann Metal, ohne Frage – und das zeigt sie hier eindrücklich.
Da gibt es einige Bretter wie „Fire In The Sky“ und „All For You“ oder Balladen wie die deutsche Nummer „Fels In Der Brandung“. Ebenfalls mutig, aber typisch DORO ist das Cover „Total Eclipse Of The Heart“ von Bonnie Tyler – wer könnte diesen Song einer genialen Poprock – Reibeisenstimme besser interpretieren als die Metal-Reibeisenstimme per se? Ansonsten sind viele Songs so episch oder symphonisch, wie wir es von DORO lieben, feine Gitarrensoli wechseln sich ab mit kraftvollen Riffs, fetten Bass- und Drumlinien. Aber wie immer; über allem schwebt DORO PESCHs Stimme und ihr Charisma, das wir so lieben.
Fazit
„Conqueress – Forever Strong And Proud“ ist eine Metalscheibe, wie wir es wollen. Alle Elemente, welche ihre königliche Majestät seit jeher auszeichnen, sind vorhanden. Das Album ist durch und durch DORO, es ergänzt die lange Reihe erfolgreicher Scheiben, setzt quasi eine weitere Perle in die majestätische Krone. Kaufen? Was für eine Frage!

Can one actually allow oneself to deny Her Majesty full marks? After all, the lady has been in the business since 1982 with WARLOCK, since 1989 she has been on the road as DORO. And finally, she delivers no less than 20 tracks on the new album, that is 15 plus 15 bonus tracks. Still, knowing DORO, she wouldn’t want any favour reviews and no diligence notes either. And that’s not necessary at all, because also on studio album number 14 the Dusseldorf-based singer shows where the metal hammer hangs. Let’s stay with the question that always comes up when someone has been in the business for so long – does the album offer something new, does it show a development? Personally, it’s enough for me if bands stay true to themselves and deliver good tracks. If the whole thing is fun and offers variety, all the better. Let’s be honest – who wants a DORO that constantly reinvents itself? Nobody! Instead, we want a DORO who exploits her potential, who puts her experience and musicality into practice. DORO can do metal, without question – and she shows it here impressively.
There are some planks like „Fire In The Sky“ and „All For You“ or ballads like the German number „Fels In Der Brandung“. Also brave, but typical DORO is the cover „Total Eclipse Of The Heart“ by Bonnie Tyler – who could interpret this song of a genius pop rock – rubbing iron voice better than the metal rubbing iron voice per se? Otherwise, many songs are as epic or symphonic as we love from DORO, fine guitar solos alternate with powerful riffs, fat bass and drum lines. But as always, DORO PESCH’s voice and her charisma, which we love so much, float above everything.
Conclusion
„Conqueress – Forever Strong And Proud“ is a metal record the way we want it. All the elements that have always distinguished their royal majesty are present. The album is DORO through and through, it adds to the long line of successful discs, puts another pearl in the majestic crown, so to speak. Buy it? What a question!
