QUIET RIOT – „Hollywood Cowboys““

Manchmal gibt es Bands, denen gelingt es, mit dem Cover die Qualität des Albums vorauszusagen. Die Ami-Rocker von QUIET RIOT schaffen das mit dem aktuellen ALbum „Hollywood Cowboys“ – definitiv nicht gelungen.
Es scheint, als lebten die Jungs nur noch von ihrer Vergangenheit, vom verblassenden Ruhm ihres Übercovers „Cum On Feel The Noise“. Hier legen sie ein gelinde gesagt relativ langweiliges Album vor, das schwach produziert ist und leider immer noch mit der quäkenden, dünnen Stimme von James Durbin aufwartet. Ob der einmal die Juroren bei „American Idol“ beeindruckt hat oder nicht – der taugt zu wenig. Mittlerweile hat er die Truppe ja verlassen, Jizzy Pearl ist zurück. Der einzige Song, der mich ein wenig angesprochen hat, ist „Hellbender“ – wenigstens etwas Druck! Für ein ganzes Album aber deutlich zu wenig…

Sometimes there are bands who manage to predict the quality of the album with the cover. The Ami rockers of QUIET RIOT are definitely not able to do that with the current album „Hollywood Cowboys“.
It seems as if the guys only live from their past, from the fading fame of their overcover „Cum On Feel The Noise“. Here they present a relatively boring album, to say the least, which is poorly produced and unfortunately still has the squeaky, thin voice of James Durbin. Whether he once impressed the jurors of „American Idol“ or not – he’s not good enough. Meanwhile he has left the troupe, Jizzy Pearl is back.The only SOng that has appealed a little to me is „Hellbender“ – at least some pressure! For a whole album however clearly too little…

CORONATUS – „The Eminance Of Nature“

CORONATUS spielen symphonischen Metal mit einem ordentlichen Touch Mittelalter. Das ist an sich nichts Ungewöhnliches, genau so wie das Album. Das ist jetzt nicht richtig negativ gemeint. Musikalisch ist das Album kreativ und abwechslungsreich, technisch ist es gut umgesetzt. Die beiden Sängerinnen haben gute Stimmen, Drummer Mats Kurth ein ausgesprochen präzises Rhythmusgefühl.
Was mir am Album fehlt, ist das typische Alleinstellungsmerkmal, das Besondere, das sie von ähnlichen Bands abhebt. und das habe ich leider so nicht identifizieren können.
Somit bleibt „The Eminance Of Nature“ ein zwar durchschnittliches, aber gut gemachtes Album.

CORONATUS play symphonic metal with a tidy medieval touch. That’s nothing unusual in itself, just like the album. That’s not really meant negatively now. Musically the album is creative and varied, technically it is well done. The two singers have good voices, drummer Mats Kurth a very precise sense of rhythm.
What I miss on the album is the typical unique selling point, the special thing that sets them apart from similar bands, and unfortunately I couldn’t identify that.
So „The Eminance Of Nature“ remains an average, but well done album.

CORRY WELLS – „The Way We Are“

Selten war ich so erfolglos bei einer Recherche – who the fuck is Cory Wells? Singer-Songwriter mit einer guten Portion Rock aus Redondo Beach, der mit „The Way We Are“ ein superschönes Debutalbum veröffentlicht.
Wenn ich mir den Typen anschaue, möchte ich den in irgendeiner Band platzieren – aber in welcher? Für Tipps oder Hinweise bin ich ausgesprochen dankbar. Das Album ist aber auf jeden Fall ein Kracher für alle, die Abwechslung und eine geniale Stimme leiden mögen. Der Junge singt sowohl wunderbare Balladen wie „Lost“ oder Duette wie das gewaltige „Fall Apart“ – ich denke einmal zusammen mit Lizzy Farrall.
Ich meine, die Scheibe sollte man sich gönnen!

Rarely have I been so unsuccessful in a research – who the fuck is Cory Wells? Singer-songwriter with a good portion of rock from Redondo Beach, who releases a very nice debut album with „The Way We Are“.
When I look at this guy, I want to put him in some band – but which one? I’m extremely grateful for tips or hints. But the album is definitely a great hit for everyone who likes variety and a brilliant voice. The boy sings wonderful ballads like „Lost“ or duets like the huge „Fall Apart“ – I think together with Lizzy Farrall.
I mean, you should treat yourself to the disc!
