PENDULUM OF FORTUNE kehren nach Eden zurück…

PENDULUM OF FORTUNE liefern am 08.03.19 ihr zweites Album „Return To Eden“.

is something like a supergroup – whereby the term does not stand for the fact that the band is super but for the fact that here well-known members of well-known bands have joined together. The term is used a little bit inflationary, at PENDULUM OF FORTUNE it’s true at least if you place it in the big German-speaking area, at least predominantly.
There’s no one less working on the drums than Bodo Schopf, who has already worked with greats like MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP, UDO LINDENBERG, FALCO or ELOY, THE SWEET or JACK BRUCE from CREAM.
DAVID READMAN at MIKROFON we know from TANKARD, PINK CREAM 69, VOODOO CIRCLE or TANK.
The most undescribed reed is the Russian guitarist VLADIMIR SHEVYAKOV, who simply has to convince with his string arts.
MBei RONNIE JAMES DIO, also the MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP, but also with KINGDOM COME and VANDEN PLAS FRANKY R worked the thick strings on the bass and finally keyboard player and guitarist MATZE ERHARDT remains, who earned his spurs with CRIME. So POF are well equipped, let’s see if they can meet the high expectations.
The band exists since 2014, their debut „Searching For The God Inside“ was released in 2017. Since last year the guys are on their way with new management zwippgruppe | zwippconsult by Horst Zwipp and signed to EL PUERTO RECORDS.
Besides an extensive tour through Germany you can also experience PENDULUM OF FORTUNE live at JOHNNYS LION CAVE in Trübbach – but only on 17.10.2019.

The Album

The guys have pressed 14 tracks onto their second album – they are always busy.
There are a lot of classic hard rock songs in the sense that voice and lead guitar form the central elements, bass, rhythm guitar and drums lay the indispensable foundation.
I was very impressed by a cover right at the beginning. „Lucky Man“ by the British pro rockers EMERSON, LAKE and PALMER, which was released in 1970 on the album of the same name. It takes some eggs to get your hands on such a classic, the expectations on the realization are enormous. I can say – experiment succeeded, patient is well. But I have to add; the guys haven’t gone very far from the original, I like the new version especially because of David Readman’s voice. In general, it’s a key element in the songs. Readman belongs to a guard of singers who have shaped hard rock – a great dynamic, a lot of pressure and this light scratching that it just needs.
The best track on the album is „Rockanini“. If you already have a classically trained string magician on board, this prevents you from writing a track that connects the world of devil violinist Niccolò Paganini with the nimble fingers of the Russian. Disappointing – the song is not even three minutes long – too bad!
I would recommend the blues rock hammer „One Of A Kind“ as the third hint. Readman’s grandiose voice, Vladimir Sheviakov’s fabulous guitar and a true harmonica style – that’s a real mood maker.
Don’t forget the power ballad „Bitter End“, a really progressive title with a special charisma and lots of power. Doesn’t quite come close to my favorites from SAXON, but at least.
