„embrace The Unknown“ erscheint am 27. August 21 via Pure Steel Records.

english version

So, once again, some music from the States, characterised by power, musicality and a pinch of progressiveness. LOWER 13 are Sean Balog (bass, vocals), Patrick Capretta (guitar, vocals) and Eric Kruger (drums). For a trio, the guys make quite a lot of noise – and more than well organised.
In the USA, Cleveland is considered one of the metal hotspots – not only because the first „All Afro – American“ metal band BLACK DEATH was founded there in 1980. After all, Cleveland in Ohio is also the hometown of the NINE INCH NAILS.
So now LOWER 13 have set out to release another album in their anniversary year 15. „Embrace The Unknown“ will be released on 27 August 21 via Pure Steel Records.

There are just nine tracks on the album, around 42 minutes of musical fun. And that is guaranteed. The band afford themselves a diversity that is not usual.
On the one hand, there is the rock power ballad „Continue On“, which closes the album. The track is a good example of the fact that the band can only be categorised to a limited extent – apart from the hard passages, the number could also appear in the repertoire of a singer-songwriter. This in turn is proof that the trio doesn’t need to hide vocally either – Sean Balog and Patrick Capretta show that they not only hit the notes, but are capable of writing catchy melodies.
In contrast to that, the album opens with a real board – the title track „Embrace The Unknown“ convinces with a lot of power, skilful riffing and blasts that are astonishing. And vocally, the guys do what we usually know from post hardcore or metalcore – a rich mixture of clean and growl.
„Hollowed“, on the other hand, is a number that would suit any thrash or melodic death metal band – the band’s delivery is pretty fat.
Then there’s „Darker Days Ahead“ – an epic heavy metal slap, once again defined by the musical and technical quality that characterises the whole album. And let’s not forget – this is a trio that has a lot more power and variety to offer than some bands with four, five or more musicians.

Conclusion

„Embrace The Unknown“ by LOWER 13 is a disc that pleases the metalhead’s heart, that offers variety and simply great music. Thank you guys for making our stay at home a little sweeter. And who knows, maybe we’ll see the band on the European stages in the not too distant future – it would certainly be worth a visit. But for now – buy it as soon as it’s on the market!
