KISSIN‘ DYNAMITE – „Not The End Of The Road“ – Review
Die deutschen Glam-Metaller veröffentlichen morgen ihr achtes Album – rechnet man ihr „best of“ von 2021 „Living On The Fast Lane“ mit.

So richtig vorstellen braucht man die süddeutsche Band um die Brüder Hannes (Vocals) und Ande Braun (Guitars), Gitarrist Jim Müller und Basser Steffen Haile. Nach dem Abgang von Drummer Andi Schnitzer scheint das Schlagzeug nur temporär besetzt zu sein. Offiziell haben wir keine Nachricht über einen Nachfolger.
Jedenfalls, KISSIN DYNAMITE sind so eine Art TOKIO HOTEL in Metal. Das ist beschreibend gemeint, nicht despektierlich. Neben der melodischen Form ihres Sounds wird die Band geprägt durch ihr Auftreten als Mädchenschwärme – Glam Metal, klar. Was klar ist und ich bei diversen Gelegenheiten erleben konnte; KISSIN DYNAMITE sind live eine grosse Hausnummer, sie lieben es, auf der Bühne zu stehen. Dabei ist ihr Engagement nicht abhängig von der Menge des Publikums. Ich konnte die Jungs am kleinen Rockfestival in der Schweizer Provinz erleben, am BANG YOUR HEAD und am SUMMERBREEZE – ihre Bühnenpräsenz war überall gleich.
Produziert, aufgenommen und gemischt wurde das neue Studioalbum von Sänger Hannes Braun (Südland Music) selbst, gemastert von Jacob Hansen in den Hansen Studios. Hansen ist bekannt für die Zusammenarbeit mit namhaften Bands, beispielsweise mit VOLBEAT.
Glam Metal lässt viel Raum für diverseste Ausdrucksformen. Da kann man relativ harten Metal drin verpacken oder machohafte Parodien aufbauen, wie es beispielsweise STEEL PANTHER zelebrieren. KISSIN DYNAMITE liegen irgendwo dazwischen. Hannes Braun zelebriert zwar den leicht androgynen Typen, ist letztlich aber zu ernsthaft, zu erwachsen, um etwa mit einem Michael Starr verglichen zu werden. Zudem ist er der bessere Sänger.
Mit „Not The End Of The Road“ liefern die Schwaben zwölf Tracks, die sich zwischen relativ schnellen Brettern und Balladen positionieren. Zu den schnellen Tracks gehören „No One Dies A Virgin“, der das Zeug zum Live-Hammer bietet – satte Beats mit viel Vorwärts, starken Gitarrenhooks und der prägenden Stimme Brauns.
Dann wäre da noch die Midtempo-Nummer „Good Life“, ebenfalls für die Bühne geboren. Unterstützt werden KISSIN DYNAMITE hier von SALTATIO MORTIS, der THUNDERMOTHER-Fronterin Guernica Mancini und Charlotte Wessels, bis Februar 2021 Sängerin von DELAIN.
Gleichzeitig scheuen sich die Jungs auch nicht, ihren Emotionen Ausdruck zu verleihen – etwa mit der Powerballade „Gone For Good“.
Eher zur härteren Gangart gehört der Titelsong „Not The End Of The Road“ – ein Hookliner, wie man ihn von den Jungs erwartet und kennt. Den Track werden Tausende Fans mitsingen, sobald die Stadien und Festivalgelände wieder offen sind.
Einer meiner persönlichen Favoriten ist „Yoko Ono“ – geht gut ab, überzeugt rhythmisch und mit hoher Dynamik im Gesang – Hannes versteht sein Handwerk.
Fazit
„Not The End Of The Road“ ist ein Album, wie man es von KISSIN DYNAMITE erwarten durfte, erwarten musste. Die Jungs kennen ihr Geschäften, beherrschen ihre Instrumente und wissen, was ihre Fans erwarten. Mir ist das Album aber zu abgeschliffen, zu perfekt. Das hat aber wahrscheinlich damit zu tun, dass ich die Jungs vorwiegend live kenne. Und ein gutes Live-Erlebnis lässt sich weder auf ein Album pressen noch damit vorwegnehmen. Lassen wir das Album leben und freuen wir uns auf die Liveshows. Kaufen ist für die Fans und die Liebhaber gepflegten Glam Metals eh angesagt.

What you really need to introduce is the southern German band around the brothers Hannes (vocals) and Ande Braun (guitars), guitarist Jim Müller and bassist Steffen Haile. After the departure of drummer Andi Schnitzer, the drums seem to be occupied only temporarily. Officially we have no news about a successor.
Anyway, KISSIN DYNAMITE are a kind of TOKIO HOTEL in metal. This is meant descriptively, not disrespectfully. Apart from the melodic form of their sound, the band is characterised by their girl crush appearance – glam metal, clearly. What is clear and I could experience on various occasions; KISSIN DYNAMITE are a big deal live, they love to be on stage. And their commitment is not dependent on the crowd. I was able to experience the guys at the small rock festival in the Swiss province, at BANG YOUR HEAD and at SUMMERBREEZE – their stage presence was the same everywhere.
The new studio album was produced, recorded and mixed by singer Hannes Braun (Südland Music) himself, mastered by Jacob Hansen at Hansen Studios. Hansen is known for his collaboration with well-known bands, for example VOLBEAT.
Glam metal leaves a lot of room for diverse forms of expression. You can pack relatively hard metal into it or build up macho parodies, such as STEEL PANTHER celebrate. KISSIN DYNAMITE are somewhere in between. Hannes Braun celebrates the slightly androgynous type, but in the end he is too serious, too grown-up to be compared to a Michael Starr, for example. Besides, he is the better singer.
With „Not The End Of The Road“, the Swabians deliver twelve tracks that position themselves between relatively fast boards and ballads. The fast tracks include „No One Dies A Virgin“, which has the makings of a live hammer – lush beats with lots of forward motion, strong guitar hooks and Braun’s defining voice.
Then there is the midtempo number „Good Life“, also born for the stage. KISSIN DYNAMITE are supported here by SALTATIO MORTIS, who THUNDERMOTHER frontwoman Guernica Mancini and Charlotte Wessels, vocalist of DELAIN until February 2021.
At the same time, the guys don’t shy away from expressing their emotions – for example with the power ballad „Gone For Good“.
The title track „Not The End Of The Road“ belongs more to the heavier genre – a hookliner as you expect and know it from the guys. Thousands of fans will be singing along to the track as soon as the stadiums and festival grounds are open again.
One of my personal favourites is „Yoko Ono“ – goes down well, convinces rhythmically and with high dynamics in the vocals – Hannes knows his craft.
conclusion
„Not The End Of The Road“ is an album as you could expect, had to expect, from KISSIN DYNAMITE. The guys know their business, know their instruments and know what their fans expect. But for me the album is too polished, too perfect. But that probably has to do with the fact that I mainly know the guys live. And a good live experience can neither be pressed onto an album nor anticipated with it. Let’s let the album live and look forward to the live shows. For fans and lovers of cultivated glam metal, it’s time to buy anyway.
