Ein gelungener Abschied für Sänger Hannes Braun oder einfach ein weiteres KISSIN DYNAMITE – Album?

Es ist seit einiger Zeit klar, dass Hannes Braun sich vom Mikro zurückziehen und in den Hintergrund treten wird. Er wird mehr produzieren, KISSIN DYNAMITE und andere Bands.
Das ist bestimmt nicht einfach für KD – ein Nachfolger dürfte zwar bestimmt sein, kommuniziert ist er noch nicht. Oder sie?
Ich gehe dann gleich einmal darauf ein, was das Album auszeichnet. Die Band hat sich für das letzte Album in Originalbesetzung einige Gäste an Bord geholt: SALTATIO MORTIS, AMARANTHE, PRIMAL FEAR, Anna Brunner (LEAGUE OF DISTORTION/EXIT EDEN) sowie Sam Totman (DRAGONFORCE).
Das ist ziemlich exklusiv und garantiert schon einmal, dass hier kein schlechtes Album vorliegt. Aber ist es auch ein gutes?
Zumindest gibt es verschiedene Ingredienzen, die das Album spannend machen. Da wären einmal die klassischen; Hannes Brauns eindrückliche Stimme und das klassische und stabile Hard Rock Songwriting. Natürlich spielen auch die Gäste eine Rolle, zum Beispiel „Bags and Pipes“ bei „I Salute You“ mit SALTATIO MORTIS.
Den eingefleischten Fans wird sofort auffallen, dass von den dreizehn Tracks einige sehr bekannt vorkommen. Jepp, da gibt es eine menge neu gemasterte, frühere Songs. Ist aber kein Problem. Erstens gefallen die ja und zweitens hat es genügend neues Material mit drauf.
Fazit
Laut Promo soll das Album eine Reaktion auf den vielfachen Wunsch der Fans nach einem letzten Album mit Hannes sein. Ist es nun der absolute Kracher? Nee, wohl eher so eine Art Playlist von der Abschiedssparty, wo man alte Hits ausgelegt hat und viele Freunde mit dabei waren. Ganz gefällig, aber sicher kein Highlight.

It has been clear for some time that Hannes Braun will step away from the microphone and move into the background. He will focus more on producing—both KISSIN’ DYNAMITE and other bands.
This certainly won’t be easy for KD. A successor has probably already been chosen, although they haven’t announced who it is yet. Or have they?
Let’s take a look at what makes the album stand out. For their final album with the original line-up, the band brought several guests on board: SALTATIO MORTIS, AMARANTHE, PRIMAL FEAR, Anna Brunner (LEAGUE OF DISTORTION/EXIT EDEN), and Sam Totman (DRAGONFORCE).
That is quite an exclusive line-up and practically guarantees that this isn’t a bad album. But is it a good one?
At the very least, the album contains a variety of ingredients that keep things interesting. First, there are the classic elements: Hannes Braun’s impressive voice and the band’s traditional, solid hard-rock songwriting. Naturally, the guests also play a part—for example, the bagpipes on “I Salute You” featuring SALTATIO MORTIS.
Die-hard fans will immediately notice that several of the thirteen tracks sound very familiar. Yep, the album includes quite a few remastered versions of earlier songs. But that isn’t really a problem. Firstly, those songs are enjoyable, and secondly, there is still plenty of new material on the album.
Conclusion
According to the promotional material, the album is a response to the many fans who wanted one final record with Hannes. So, is it an absolute knockout? Not really. It feels more like the playlist for a farewell party, featuring a selection of old hits and plenty of friends joining in. Pleasant enough, but certainly not a highlight.
