KAMELOT – „The Awakening“ out now

KAMELOT – „The Awakening“ out now

Scherz! Aber „New Babylon“ hat mit Ausnahme der kriegerischen Inhalte viele Ingredienzen der Musik der „Schweden“One More Beer“-Akrobaten.

Fazit

Darf man kaufen!

english version

Where KAMELOT is on it, is also KAMELOT in it – this does not change with the 13th studio album. KAMELOT remain true to themselves with „The Awakening“.

And that’s a good thing, that’s what the fans want to hear, that’s what brings the power metallers new fans again and again.
Longtime producer Sascha Paeth was responsible for the production, which was polished down to the last detail, and the mastering was done by Jacob Hansen at Hansen Studios. As is typical for KAMELOT, their 13th studio album also features prominent guests. From genre stars and label mates like Swiss singer Melissa Bonny (AD FINITUM) to renowned instrumentalists like violinist Florian Janoske and soundtrack-tested cellist Tina Guo, who has already been nominated for a Grammy.

Tommy Karevik – Vocals, Thomas Youngblood – Guitars, Oliver Palotai – Keyboards, Sean Tibbetts – Bass and Alex Landenburg – Drums – this is the current line-up of the band that has been on the road since 1991 and is one of the greats of its genre.

The new album „The Awakening“ does not turn the musical world of KAMELOT upside down – it is the proven mix between a lot of melody and hard drums and riffs. Speaking of harshness – „The Awakening“ is altogether harder than the previous dozen albums – an example of this is the track „Opus of the Night (Ghost Requiem)“. At the other end of the scale are the ballads like „The Willow“ or „Midsummer’s Eve“.
Who moves in the PowerMetal, does not come around borrowings and comparisons. The question arises – do you have to compare KAMELOT with SABATON or vice versa? „New Babylon“ could well come from the Swedes – or all SABATON songs from KAMELOT. Joke! But „New Babylon“ has, with the exception of the martial contents, many ingredients of the music of the „Swedes „One More Beer“ acrobats.

Conclusion

„The Awakening“ will not enter the Metalolymp as a masterpiece, it is also not the best album in the discography of the band – but one of the good ones. KAMELOT will play many festival stages this summer with the new tracks – please the existing fans and win new ones. It’s worth buying!
