What was not written all about BEYOND THE BLACK. There the young Jennyfer Haben would have changed the first lineup of the band on her own by kicking the guys out on her own and then casting a new band. The truth is rather in the area that she wanted to start more than the former line-up – all or not at all – just without any.
In the meantime, success has more than proved her right – BTB have been rising continuously since their debut „In The Shadows“ in 2015. And so it’s no surprise that their last year’s headlining tour was largely sold out and that the band has not only played with lots of great bands on stage but also rocked the big stages.
Surely no disadvantage for their career was Jennyfer Haven’s appearance at „Sing Meinen Song“. Not all fans may have been happy about it, but the music of the bands has definitely had more reach. Moreover, the show also shows the quality of the music, because it has to face different styles.

The album „Hørisøns“ surprises. It surprises with a musical breadth that has never existed before. The band sounds out boundaries, crosses them in part, takes risks. There is for example „Mysery“, which will not be the favourite track of the die-hard fans. This thing sounds pretty „poppy“, even though it contains all the ingredients it needs for a metal anthem. The drumbeat at the rhythm opens the door to the rock section with a slight pop touch at least a bit. But the voice of the front woman fills the track grandiosely and makes this number one of my favourites on the album.
Interestingly enough „Some Kind Of Monster“ also grabbed me – the track is very melodic, with less pressure than other titles – the hookline will make the song successful and suitable for radio. This is not a disadvantage in the end, because it opens the sound of the Germans to a wider audience.
A cool, though comparatively short board is „Golden Pariahs“ – nice riffs and double beats and Jennyfer’s voice in the rather lower registers.
On „Wounded Healer“, Elize Ryd from AMARANTHE does her best next to Jennyfer Haben. And the two girls show the established front women of the metal scene where the hammer hangs. The two don’t need to hide from big names like WITHIN TEMPTATION, EPICA or NIGHTWISH – here two great voices join forces.

Conclusion

„Hørisøns“ is a very good album, a clear development and increase of the BTB work so far. Courage and creativity deliver a package that gets more than the icing on the cake due to the really grandiose voice of the little front woman. In any case I am looking forward to hearing the new album live when BTB go on tour with AMARANTHE next winter. On 30.11.20 they play in the Zurich complex.
