INFINITAS – „Infernum“ am 6.12.19
Manche Bands hängen sich den Hammer bereits selber hoch, da brauchen wir von den Medien uns gar keine Mühe mehr geben.

INFINITAS stammen aus dem Muotathal – was schon vielen Schweizern fremd oder zumindest suspekt ist. Ausländer, lasst euch soviel gesagt sein; Berge, Schluchten, den ganzen Winter zappenduster und eingeschneit und im Sommer…
Andrea Böll (Vocals, Percussion), Selv Martone (Guitar, Virtual Instruments), Savannah Childers (Violin) sowie Pirmin ‚Piri‘ Betschart (Drums, Vocals, Percussion, Clarinette) scheint das nciht so richtig zu beeindrucken – schliesslich leben sie immer noch da. Live wird die Truppe übrigens durch Marcel ‚Camel‘ Koller (Bass, Background Vocals) verstärkt. Die Band ist nicht nur musikalisch sehr engagiert, sie kümmern sich auch grossartig um ihre Fans, besorgen bei Bedarf auch mal einen Shuttlebus. Naja, wie soll man auch sonst aus dem Muotathal… lassen wir das.
Auf ihrem zweiten Album holen sich die Schwyzer hochkarätige Unterstützung, ELUVEITIE-Fronter Chrigel Glanzmann übernimmt das Mikro bei „Tiamat“. Auch sonst weiss die Band, wo es Qualität zu holen gibt – verantwortlich für die Produktion und die Aufnahmen zeichnet kein Geringerer als Tommy Vettreli, seines Zeichens Gitarrero bei CORONER und bisher zuständig für diverse ELUVEITIE- oder CELLAR DARLING-Alben – um nur einmal den Schweizer Dunstkreis etwas zu beleuchten.
Nun zum hoch gehängten Hammer; wenn eine Band sich selber als „IRON MAIDEN meets ELUVEITIE“ bezeichnet, haben die entweder gigantomanische Eier in der Hose oder den Verstand verloren. Wie immer liegt die Wahrheit wohl irgendwo dazwischen. Musikalisch würde ich die Truppe definitiv viel näher bei ELUVEITIE ansiedeln.
Das mit IRON MAIDEN muss irgendwann einmal in einem Gespräch geklärt werden – einer Art „Eierschau“ sozusagen.
Das Album „Infernum“ ist der erste Teil einer Trilogie mit dem Namen „Memoria“. Sie baut auf der Geschichte des Debutalbums auf – womit geklärt ist, dass es sich um ein Konzeptalbum handelt – zur Geschichte meint die Band:
„Mit MEMORIA wagten wir uns an eine komplexere Geschichte heran. Wir gehen davon aus, dass jeder Mensch selber entscheiden kann, ob das Leben gut oder böse ist. Die Geschichte geht nun in 3 parallelen Zeitsträngen weiter. Und
genau so kann der geflüchtete Mann sein weiteres Leben mit seinen Gedanken beeinflussen. Einerseits kann er seine eigene Hölle kreieren, indem er sich von den Erlebnissen negativ beeinflussen lässt, anderseits kann er sich auch seinen persönlichen Himmel, also ein überaus positives Leben, oder seine persönliche Erde (Ying und Yang) schaffen.„
13 Songs brennt die Band auf die Scheibe, mein persönlicher Favorit dabei ist die Vorabsingle „Rahu“ – Andrea Böll hat eine schöne Stimme mit einer ziemlich beeindruckenden Dynamik. Dass „Tiamat“ ebenfalls ganz oben auf die Liste gehört, versteht sich fast von selbst. Wenn sich Chrigel Glanzmann ans Mikro setzt, dann ist das nicht nur einfach eine Gastste^imme, dann kommt immer auch etwas ELUVEITIE dazu – und das steht dem Song sowie dem Album gut, da es letztlich eine Prise in einem fein abgestimmten Menu ist. INFINITAs sind und bleiben INFINITAS.
Fazit
Einen halben meiner 4.5 Punkte haben sich INFINITAS verdient, weil sie schweizerdeutsche Texte integrieren – zudem im „Thaler-Düütsch“ – was auch ausserhalb dieser idyllischen Talschaft kaum jemand versteht. Nun aber Schluss mit dem Bergtäler-Bashing – „Infernum“ ist ein geglücktes Stück Heavyfolk, es überzeugt mich musikalisch und vom Gesamteindruck her. Inhaltlich sind diese Mittelaltergeschichten nur teilweise meines – deswegen ist wohl auch „Game Of Thrones“ ohne Einfluss an mir vorüber gegangen.
Wer Folkmetal mag, sollte sich dieses Album unbedingt besorgen und die Band auf einem ihrer Konzerte besuchen. Es könnte durchaus sein, dass ihr irgendwo mit dem Shuttlebus abgeholt werdet…

The band is not only musically very committed, they also take great care of their fans, even get a shuttle bus if needed. Well, how else can you get out of the Muotathal… let’s leave it at that.
On their second album the guys from Schwyz get top-class support, ELUVEITIE front man Chrigel Glanzmann takes over the microphone at „Tiamat“. The band also knows where else to get quality – responsible for the production and the recordings is Tommy Vettreli, guitar player at CORONER and so far responsible for several ELUVEITIE- or CELLAR DARLING-albums – who is none other than Tommy Vettreli – to shed some light on the Swiss atmosphere.
Now to the high hammer; if a band calls itself „IRON MAIDEN meets ELUVEITIE“, they’ve either lost gigantomaniac eggs in their pants or lost their minds. As always, the truth lies somewhere in between. Musically, I would definitely place the band much closer to ELUVEITIE.
The thing with IRON MAIDEN has to be clarified sometime in a conversation – a kind of „egg show“ so to speak.

13 Songs the band burns on the disc, my personal favorite is the preabsingle „Rahu“ – Andrea Böll has a beautiful voice with a pretty impressive dynamic.It goes without saying that „Tiamat“ also belongs at the top of the list.When Chrigel Glanzmann sits down at the microphone, it’s not just a guest, it’s always a little ELUVEITY – and that’s good for the song and the album, because it’s a pinch in a finely tuned menu.INFINITAs are and remain INFINITAS.
Conclusion
Half of my 4.5 points are earned by INFINITAS because they integrate Swiss-German texts – also in „Thaler-Düütsch“ – which somebody outside of this idyllic valley understands keaum.But now the end of the mountain valley bashing – „Infernum“ is a successful piece of heavy folk, it convinces me musically and from the overall impression.The content of these medieval stories is only partly mine – that’s why „Game Of Thrones“ passed me by without any influence.
Whoever likes Folkmetal should definitely get this album and visit the band at one of their concerts.It could well be that you will be picked up somewhere by the shuttle bus…
