Auch wenn es sich hier um ein Debut Album handelt – sind IGEL VS SHARK nicht erst kürzlich gegründet worden. Das ist schon gut 10 Jahre her.

Nach 2 Jahren Pause nahmen sie 2014 wieder Fahrt auf und wollten neben Live Konzerten auch einen Longplayer auf den Markt bringen. Es sollte aber kein Schnellschuss sein, sondern die Band aus Wien nahm sich die Zeit um Ihren persönlichen «Touchdown on Planet Rock» zu landen.
Lukas Reichhold singt und spielt Gitarre, Julia Lorünser werkelt ebenfalls am Mikrofon und malträtiert dazu den Bass, die Drums bearbeitet Lukas Linschinger.
Das nach der Band benannte Album macht Laune, ist mitreissend und setzt hohe Erwartungen in einen live Auftritt. Bei mir haben sie es zumindest auf die «will ich mal live sehen» Liste geschafft.
Wer auf eine Mischung aus Punk und Rock mit Rockabilly Einflüssen steht sollte in dieses Album reinhören.
Mein Anspieltipps:
Die powervolle Eröffnungsnummer «Mexico» mit ihren treibenden Gitarren geht schon in die Beine und macht Lust auf mehr. Mit «U.L.I.A» wird gleich der nächste Kracher nachgelegt. Guter Beat, coole Riffs und auch wenn es vom Text her eher ein etwas wütender Song ist – macht er dennoch gute Laune und könnte live so richtig abgehen. Mein Lieblingssong auf dem Album.
Bei «Step Up» wird man musikalisch und textlich dazu motiviert eine Sache anzupacken. Sei dies nun ein kühles Blondes an der Bar zu holen, die heisse Blonde ein paar Schritte weiter an zu sprechen, die Wohnung zu entrümpeln oder den Weltfrieden zu starten – damit schaffst Du den ersten Schritt.
Damit Du dabei bleibst gleich mit «Get Ready» und «Iron Steel» weitermachen.
Auch der Schlusspunkt «Touchdown» ist nochmals ein guter Stimmungsmacher der in die Beine fährt.

Lukas Reichhold sings and plays guitar, Julia Lorünser also works on the microphone and maltreats the bass, Lukas Linschinger works on the drums.
The album named after the band is fun, thrilling and has high expectations for a live performance. With me they at least made it to the „will I see live“ list.

My hints:
The powerful opening number „Mexico“ with its driving guitars already goes into your legs and makes you want more. With „U.L.I.A“ the next hit is added. Good beat, cool riffs and even if it’s a bit of an angry song from the lyrics – it’s still in a good mood and could really go off live. My favourite song on the album.
„Step Up“ motivates you musically and lyrically to do something. Whether it’s getting a cool blonde at the bar, talking to the hot blonde a few steps further, clearing out the apartment or starting world peace – that’s the first step you make.
To keep you going with „Get Ready“ and „Iron Steel“.
Also the end point „Touchdown“ is another good mood maker that goes into your legs.
