Michigan scheint ein gutes Pflaster für hochkarätigen Metalcore – so kommt auch eine meiner Lieblingsband aus der Gegend – WE CAME AS ROMANS.
FOR THE FALLEN DREAMS haben seit 2003 sieben Alben veröffentlicht – inklusive des hier besprochenen.

Fazit

english version

Michigan seems to be a good place for top-class metalcore – so one of my favorite bands comes from the area – WE CAME AS ROMANS.
FOR THE FALLEN DREAMS have released seven albums since 2003 – including this one. Quite busy for a band that has been in business for twenty years, but only got a record deal in 2007 and released their first album in 2008. And – the guys are absolute world champions in lineup changes and on-off relationships. Including the current lineup, the band has had no less than nearly 30 different members since its inception.
So it’s not surprising that the music has been subject to various changes – not fundamentally, but always initiated by different members – the saying „panta rhei“ – everything flows.
Currently the band consists of Chad Ruhlig | Vocals, Jim Hocking | Guitar & Vocals, Damon Tate | Guitar, Kalan Blehm | Bass and Marc Esses | Drums. With their self-titled album the guys set another scent mark in the world of harder music.

The band delivers eleven tracks – mostly in the usual metalcore length around three and a half to four minutes – that is almost three quarters of an hour of pleasure. So that no cosiness creeps in, the guys start right from the beginning – right!
Already the opener „Reanimate“ bangs with full force in the pit of the stomach – so don’t drive the stereo to full power right away! However, you can listen to the whole disc at a higher volume – after all, Core has to crack.
With „What If“ the guys then immediately show where metalcore comes from, which ingredients define the sound and make it one of the more modern metal developments – hardcore mixed with hip hop/rap in fat metal garb.
Overall, the guys can but mainly loud and hard – so who expects soft tones, is wrong here. So partly – the changes between growl and melodic clear vocals there are of course, embedded in the industry-standard breakdown garb.
However, „Without You“ is relatively gentle – and puts on the most awesome guitar solo of the album – pretty good! Searching“ presents itself in a similar way. And honestly? Actually, there are several numbers following this pattern – „No Heaven“ for example.

But there are also the honest songs – „Supra Personal“ or „Chemicals“ – where the band celebrates their hard side.

Conclusion

„For The Fallen Dreams“ is an album that stands at the end of the current development of the band – mature, fully developed, almost perfect. The disc has no weaknesses, the only shortcoming from my point of view are the repetitive structures. But this is on the one hand typical for the genre and on the other hand no real flaw – so you can buy the album with confidence!
