FILISTINE – „LOfE“

Da gibt es also mal wieder neues Futter, nicht nur musikalisch, sondern auch informativ. Will heissen, ich kannte die Band bisher nicht. Das ist mir, bei der Menge an Bands, die es gibt, nicht vorzuwerfen oder schlimm. Zudem landen täglich mehrere Promoanfragen von Labels in meinem Mailkorb, dass ich damit ziemlich selektiv umgehen muss. Was sich lohnt ist, uns als Band direkt anzuschreiben; per Kontaktformular, Post, Facebook oder Instagram – das generiert mehr Aufmerksamkeit!Mittlerweile weiss ich also, dass FILISTINE eine sehr spannende Truppe aus Neumarkt in der Pfalz sind. Hier offenbart sich meine nächste Wissenslücke – where the fuck is Neumarkt?

Aber lassen wir die unwichtigen Details. Wichtiger ist, dass das Trio aus Samuel Meier an Bass und Mikrofon, Om Hari Lasar an Gitarre und Mikrofon und Jonas Böhm an den Drums besteht. Wichtiger ist auch, dass dir die Truppe eine extrem spannende Musikmischung in die Gehörgänge streicht. Dazu weiter unten mehr. Was mir aber richtig auf den Sack geht – Om Hari Lasars Stimme erinnert mich an irgendjemanden und das kommt mir zum Teufel nochmal nicht in den Sinn. Sowas hasse ich!
Insgesamt erinnert mich die Truppe zumindest bei ihren rockigeren Nummern stark an JACK SLAMER – und die musikalischen Vorbilder der Bands decken sich auch ziemlich – zumindest LED ZEPPELIN, BEATLES und JIMI HENDRIX haben beide Truppen beeinflusst. Der deutlichste Unterschied – JACK SLAMER spielen eher in den härteren Gefilden, FILISTINE haben mehr Groove, mehr Coolness und den höheren Chill-Faktor.

Zehn Tracks haben die Jungs auf ihr neues Album LOfE gepresst oder gedigitalisiert. Das kleine f in LOfE schreibt sich übrigens wie ein f-Loch, wie man es bei Gitarren oder Bässen findet – nur so als unwichtige Info.
Mich hat bereits beim ersten Hören des Albums die Gesamtstimmung gepackt. Das Album ist cool und extrem groovy.
Om Hari hat eine extrem charismatische Stimme, die sowohl zu den rockigen Geschichten passt als auch zu den funkigen. Die Kompositionen und das Songwriting der Band bewegt sich schon auf ziemlich hohem Niveau – oder weniger geschwurbelt – die Jungs können spielen und sind kreativ.
Es fällt mir schwer, wenn ich Anspieltipps nennen soll. Vielleicht „Love“, das mich an eine funky reggae LED ZEPPELIN-Version erinnert? Oder die psycho-rockige Ballade „Rival Sons“? Allenfalls auch das bluesig-rockige „Play“ – dem dann wieder viel Funkgitarre beigemischt werden.
Es gibt so viele musikalische Ansätze, wie es Tracks gibt. Das Album ist bunt und abwechslungsreich und bietet etwas für alle Geschmäcker. Das mag für den einen oder anderen Hörer auch ein Mangel sein. Es fehlt ein wenig der rote Faden, das, was die Musik besonders macht. Negativ gesagt könnte man den Sound etwas beliebig nennen, was allerdings der Qualität der Musik nicht entsprechen würde.

Fazit

Das Album „LOFE“ hat mich beeindruckt, hat mich angesprochen. Es ist ein musikalisches Schnäppchen, abwechslungsreich, gut gemacht und musikalisch hochstehend.
Jetzt ist mir übrigens eingefallen, an wen mich die Stimme des Fronters erinnert – Jimi Hendrix in groovy!

So there is new food, not only musically but also informative. Meaning, I did not know the band before. I donŽt blame or hate that, with the amount of bands that exist. Besides, every day several promo requests from labels end up in my mail basket, so I have to be quite selective with them. What is worthwhile is to write to us directly as a band; via contact form, post, Facebook or Instagram – that generates more attention! So in the meantime I know that FILISTINE are a very exciting band from Neumarkt in der Pfalz. Here my next gap in my knowledge is revealed – where the fuck is Neumarkt?

But let’s leave the unimportant details. More important is that the trio consists of Samuel Meier on bass and microphone, Om Hari Lasar on guitar and microphone and Jonas Böhm on drums. More important is also that the troupe brings an extremely exciting musical mixture into your ears. More on this below. But what really gets on my nerves – Om Hari Lasar’s voice reminds me of somebody else and that doesn’t even occur to me. I hate that! br>All in all the band reminds me a lot of JACK SLAMER – at least for their more rocky numbers – and the musical idols of the bands are pretty much the same – at least LED ZEPPELIN, BEATLES and JIMI HENDRIX influenced both bands. The most obvious difference – JACK SLAMER play more in the harder areas, FILISTINE have more groove, more coolness and the higher chill factor.

Ten tracks the guys have pressed or digitized on their new album LOfE. By the way, the little f in LOfE is written like an f-hole, like you find it on guitars or basses – just as an unimportant info.
I already got the overall mood of the album when I first listened to it. The album is cool and extremely groovy.
Om Hari has an extremely charismatic voice that fits the rocky stories as well as the funky ones. The band’s compositions and songwriting are already on a pretty high level – or less so – the guys can play and are creative.
It’s hard for me to give you some hints. Maybe „Love“, which reminds me of a funky reggae LED ZEPPELIN version? Or the psycho-rock ballad „Rival Sons“? At best also the bluesy rocky „Play“ – to which a lot of funk guitar is added.
There are as many musical approaches as there are tracks. The album is colourful and varied and offers something for all tastes. That might be a lack for one or the other listener. There is a little bit missing the red thread, what makes the music special. Negatively said one could call the sound a little bit arbitrary, but that would not correspond to the quality of the music.

Conclusion

The album „LOFE“ impressed me, appealed to me. It’s a musical bargain, varied, well done and musically high class.
By the way, now I remembered who the voice of the front man reminds me of – Jimi Hendrix in groovy!
