Dem Schweizer Rockmarkt fehlen seit Jahren Bands, welche unsere alten Heroen einmal ablösen könnten. Mit FIGHTER V steht nun eine solche Band bereit.
Mich haben FIGHTER V bereits mit ihrem Debutalbum „Fighter“ und diversen Liveshows begeistert. Darum war ich auch etwas geschockt, als Fronter Dave Niederberger aus gesundheitlichen Gründen aus der Band ausscheiden musste. Auch die Troxler-Brüder an Bass und Gitarre verliessen die Band. Glücklicherweise hat sich Dave erholt und ist heute mit seiner Band DAVE AND THE DUDES wieder unterwegs.
Damals habe ich mich wirklich gefragt, ob die Truppe den Abgang dieses grandiosen Sängers und begnadeten Rampensau überstehen würde. Auch der Verlust von Bass und Gitarre ist für eine Band kein Detail.
Glücklicherweise haben die Jungs nicht aufgegeben, ihr Lineup vervollständigt und mit Emmo Acar einen würdigen Nachfolger, einen charismatischen und sehr talentierten Nachfolger gefunden. So ist es kein Zufall, dass die Band bereits wieder diverse Headliner-Shows und Festivals gespielt haben und diesen Herbst mit niemand Geringerem als AXEL RUDI PELL für 17 Gigs auf Tour gehen wird. Den ausgedehnten Tourplan mit weiteren Headlinershows in der Schweiz gibt es unten.

Aber nach dem ganzen Namedropping und Bandgelobe war ja noch die Musik. Was genau bietet das zweite Album? Zum einen technisch perfekten Hardrock mit viel Melodie, Hooklinern und Brettern, zum Anderen eine Livepower, die sich in den Songs ankündigt und mit der Präsenz des neuen Material auf diversen Bühnen gezeigt hat.
Fangen wir gleich mit dem Track „Power“ an. Einerseits liefert der Song, was der Titel verspricht – Bass und Drums jagen die Nummer straight ahead, Gesang und Gitarre drücken ebenfalls ganz mächtig. Kleines Detail; als Gast hilft bei diesem Track JOHN DIVA aus – er wird seine Gründe gehabt haben.
Auch sonst hauen uns die Jungs richtig fette Tracks um die Ohren. Seien das die Bretter „Speed Demon“ „Stepped On A Landmine“ oder (Power-)Balladen wie „Miracle Heart“ oder „I’m There“.
Da reiht sich Hookliner an Hookliner, sauberste Gitarren-Solo-Arbeit und die Hammerstimme von Emmo Acar prägen das Album und machen es zu etwas ganz Grossem.

Fazit

Was die Männer von FIGHTER V hier abliefern ist wirklich grosses Kino, steht eine Band wie KISSIN‘ DYNAMITE in nichts nach und es würde mich wundern, wenn die Jungs in den nächsten Jahren nicht durchstarten würden – die grossen Bühnen warten nur auf solche Schweizer Rock-Wertarbeit. Kaufen? Was für eine dämliche Frage!

For years, the Swiss rock market has been lacking bands that could one day replace our old heroes. With FIGHTER V, one such band is now ready and waiting.
FIGHTER V have already impressed me with their debut album ‘Fighter’ and various live shows. That’s why I was a bit shocked when frontman Dave Niederberger had to leave the band for health reasons. The Troxler brothers on bass and guitar also left the band. Fortunately, Dave recovered and is now back on the road with his band DAVE AND THE DUDES.

At the time, I really wondered whether the band would survive the departure of this terrific singer and gifted ramp sow. The loss of bass and guitar is no small matter for a band.
Fortunately, the guys didn’t give up, completed their line-up and found a worthy successor in Emmo Acar, a charismatic and very talented successor. So it’s no coincidence that the band have already played various headlining shows and festivals again and will be touring with none other than PHIL CAMPBELL AND THE BASTARD SONS for 14 gigs this autumn. But after all the name dropping and band bragging, there was still the music. What exactly does the second album offer? On the one hand, technically perfect hard rock with lots of melody, hooks and planks, and on the other hand, the live power that the songs herald and that has been demonstrated by the presence of the new material on various stages.

Let’s start with the track ‘Power’. On the one hand, the song delivers what the title promises – bass and drums chase the number straight ahead, vocals and guitar also push quite powerfully. A small detail: JOHN DIVA helps out as a guest on this track – he must have had his reasons.
The guys also throw some really great tracks at us. Be it the planks ‘Speed Demon’, ‘Stepped On A Landmine’ or (power) ballads like ‘Miracle Heart’ or ‘I’m There’.
Hookliner after hookliner, the cleanest guitar solo work and Emmo Acar’s hammer voice characterise the album and make it something really great.

Conclusion

What the men from FIGHTER V deliver here is really great cinema, is in no way inferior to a band like KISSIN‘ DYNAMITE and I would be surprised if the guys didn’t take off in the next few years – the big stages are just waiting for such Swiss rock value work. Buy it? What a stupid question!
