Hält, was es verspricht!

english version

ELECTRIC ENEMY are, in addition to Jim Lawton, Max Crook and Thomas Rhomer-Smith on drums and percussion; the guitars are played by Orlando Formaro and Lawton himself; in addition, on bass Ewan Boissinot, Sara Fedi and Killian Paul participate.
The album was created in collaboration with renowned producers such as Sam Miller (RAZORLIGHT, ALBERTA CROSS, PALOMA FAITH), Grammy-winning producer Adrian Bushby (MUSE, THE FOOF FIGHTERS) and Pete Hutchings (ROYAL BLOOD, LADY GAGA, FOALS) and takes the listener on a journey through mental health issues, good and bad relationships and different approaches to navigating today’s world.
What can be said right away; when you listen to the album and look at the picture of the protagonist afterwards, you inevitably wonder if this is really the right picture. Stoner/alternative rock with a clear fat content is played by such a dapper young man, unbelievable.

And the album? Keeps what it promises! Right from the start „Therapy“ is a straight stoner number, besides the usual suspicious instruments there is something synthesizer-like working – and this cruelly intense voice of Fornter. Again – this neat young man and this voice – weird. The second track „Bleed Me Dry“ fits then rather again to the exterior – a rock-metalcore-mixture with slight pop impact – a pretty fat hookliner.
What is noticeable up to here – there are hardly any tracks that last longer than three minutes – hardly has the pleasure started, it’s already over… But you can also put it this way – various diverse appetizers that make you want more.
Another hookliner is „All For You“ an anthem, a sing-along track, a ditty that takes you away immediately….
The band can also midtempo – for example „Climb“ – again a lot of melody and harmony.
The song Therapy is available twice – „Welcome Back!“ – also this number stands for the continuous stylistics of the album; fat, melodic tracks, with borrowings in various genres, heavy really stoner and rock – the mixture makes it!
One of my favorites is the tempo doomy track „Paranoid“ – which has nothing to do with the well-known song by BLACK SABBATH – but still really fun.
With „After All“ the band delivers something like a ballad – not quite suitable for lighters, but exciting. But the he real surprise is track number 11 – an acoustic piano and vocal number, which then gets temporary support from the band in the second part – a cool stadium story – „Lost Where You Are“.

Conclusion

„Electric Enemy“ is a very exciting, extremely well done album of an also very exciting band. A band with this potential deserves to be supported. So buy it, even if it’s not quite clear whether this is a project or a band with a changing line-up. They are worth your time and money!
