Richtig geil dagegen ist „As Long As It Takes“, ein Midtempokracher apokalyptischen Ausmasses.

Metalcore from New Zealand at home with Tenfold, „Secrets“ will be released on 9.11.19

WRITTEN BY WOLVES are not very well known in our country, although they have already achieved a lot in their homeland New Zealand, but also around the globe:

They are the most frequently streamed rock band from New Zealand, with more than 125,000 monthly listeners and more than 13 million streams on Spotify and more than 52,000 subscribers and 10 million views on YouTube. The previous singles ‚Not Afraid To Die‘, ‚Genius‘ and ‚Timebombs & Hurricanes‘ have all been awarded the coveted prizes of the renowned International Song Writing Competition.

Members of the band: Singer Michael Murphy, Davie Wong and Bahador Borhani on guitar, Karl Woodhams on drums and Oli Lyons, percussion, samples, electronic wizardry. At first glance the guys look like a boy band – but that’s a big mistake!

With „Secrets“ the band is releasing their debut album, after having worked for the last three years on collecting and perfecting material and building up an international fanbase.

Now the disc is just banging around my ears, and I am pretty amused. First of all, it’s worth listening to the disc out loud – on speakers that deserve that name. So throw your UE-Booms and Co. into the corner and get some real music listening devices!
That’s how it has to be, because the album is crashing. It has a slightly popy touch through the use of synthesizers, but that’s only half the battle – maximum.
The disc is very varied, delivers straightforward boards as well as thoughtful, melodic songs. At the beginning of the album one or the other will have to overcome something – the intro „Start The Fire“ sounds somehow like KRAFTWERK from the eighties.
With „Let It Burn“ the covers are already falling and a powerful, musical power is making its way. The beats are precise and powerful, the two guitars provide the metal curry and the voices testify to the energy and melodicity of the quintet. It’s not to hide – the band comes from the stages and has pressed their power into this disc.

Clear, it’s not all perfect – the title track „Secrets“ is a powerful song for me but it is different from the rest of the album.

Rightly awesome is „As Long As It Takes“, a midtempo punch of apocalyptic proportions. Now finally turn up your equipment and you will understand what I mean – of course only when the album is out…

A conclusion pleasing?

„Secrets“ contains 13 tracks, first class metalcore, for me comparable to the BAD WOLVES. Not quite as hard, but still a clear recommendation to buy. If they are too hard – are you too soft!
