CAROLINE BREITLER als Band sind Caroline Breitler, Vocals, Alain Schneble, Guitars und Andreas Caplazi an den Keyboards. Die Band besteht seit 2018 und ist seit Herbst letzten Jahres bei EL PUERTO Records unter Vertrag.
Wie bereits erwähnt, haben sie sich für dieses Album Mark Fox als Sänger und Ivan Keller als Gitarrist eingefunden. Die oben gestellte Frage, ob diese Hilfe notwendig gewesen wäre oder nicht? Nicht!
Klar, es ist immer cool, wenn man spannende Gäste dabei haben kann. Mark Fox als Duettpartner passt absolut und Ivan Kellers Gitarrenkünste sind definitiv nicht ohne. Und trotzdem wäre das Album auch sonst ein Kracher, bringt selber hohe Qualität.
Was ist denn nun die Qualität? Mein Fokus liegt jeweils auf drei Bereichen; der technischen Qualität der Künstlerinnen und Künstler, dem Songwriting und der Kreativität.
Caroline Breitler hat sich Musiker zur Seite gestellt, die sich nicht zu verstecken brauchen. Da wäre Keyboarder Andi Caplazi; nicht nur als Musiker, sonder auch als Musik- und Videoproduzent hat er in der Schweiz einen guten Ruf. Alain Schneble kennt man in der Eidgenosssenschaft durch seine Gitarrenarbeit und Backing Vocals bei der Meldodic Hardrockktruppe SECOND REIGN.
Das Album selber zeichnet sich durch einen ziemlich weiten Range innerhalb des Genres aus. Da gibt es catchy Hookliner wie den Opener „Sentinel“ oder die Ballade „If Nobody Loves You“ – mit dem erwähnten Mark Fox von SHAKRA sowie Ivan Keller an der Gitarre – mit einen hinreissenden Balladensolo. Es gibt epische Tracks wie „Genghis Khan“ oder Bretter wie „A Million Miles“. Eine weitere Powerballade mit schönen Gitarrenelementen ist „Stuck In The Cold“ oder das rhythmisch interessante „Light To Dark“, dessen Melodie mich an gewisse ELUVEITIE-Tracks erinnert.
Zwischendurch habe ich mich gefragt, welche Rolemodels Caroline Breitler wohl hat, wer sie inspiriert, allgemein und für gewisse Songs. Das herauszuspüren ist schwierig. Man erkennt zwar immer wieder gewisse Phrasen, die man einer Band oder einem Genre zuordnen könnte – es bleiben letztlich aber Fragmente.
Fazit
Und das macht für mich die Stärke des Albums aus – es ist abwechslungsreich, hat aber einen klaren, roten Faden – klassischer Hardrock mit Metalelementen.
Insgesamt ist die Musik nicht wahnsinnig eigen, nicht die ganz grosse „Wow“- Scheibe, wo man sich fragt, was denn da Neues, Hammergeiles daher kommt. Die Faszination liegt für mich in der Kreativität der Band und insbesondere in der Stimme der Frontfrau. Kaufen? Ja, klar!

CAROLINE BREITLER is a band consisting of Caroline Breitler on vocals, Alain Schneble on guitars, and Andreas Caplazi on keyboards. The band has been together since 2018 and has been signed to EL PUERTO Records since last fall.
As mentioned earlier, they brought in Mark Fox as a vocalist and Ivan Keller as a guitarist for this album. The question posed above—was this help necessary or not? No!
Sure, it’s always cool to have exciting guests on board. Mark Fox is a perfect fit as a duet partner, and Ivan Keller’s guitar skills are definitely nothing to sneeze at. And yet, the album would still be a smash hit on its own—it’s high quality in its own right.
So what exactly is the quality here? My focus is always on three areas: the technical skill of the artists, the songwriting, and the creativity.
Caroline Breitler has surrounded herself with musicians who have nothing to hide. Take keyboardist Andi Caplazi, for example; he has a solid reputation in Switzerland not only as a musician but also as a music and video producer. Alain Schneble is known throughout Switzerland for his guitar work and backing vocals with the melodic hard rock band SECOND REIGN.
The album itself stands out for its fairly wide range within the genre. There are catchy hooks like the opener “Sentinel” or the ballad “If Nobody Loves You”—featuring the aforementioned Mark Fox from SHAKRA as well as Ivan Keller on guitar—with a captivating ballad solo. There are epic tracks like “Genghis Khan” or high-energy numbers like “A Million Miles.” Another power ballad with beautiful guitar elements is “Stuck In The Cold,” or the rhythmically interesting “Light To Dark,” whose melody reminds me of certain ELUVEITIE tracks.
At times, I found myself wondering who Caroline Breitler’s role models might be, who inspires her—both in general and for specific songs. It’s hard to pinpoint. You do recognize certain phrases here and there that you could attribute to a band or a genre—but ultimately, they remain just fragments.
Conclusion
And that, to me, is the album’s strength—it’s varied, yet it has a clear, unifying thread: classic hard rock with metal elements.
Overall, the music isn’t incredibly unique; it’s not that huge “wow” album where you ask yourself, “What’s so new and amazing about this?” For me, the appeal lies in the band’s creativity and, in particular, in the lead singer’s voice. Should you buy it? Yes, definitely!
