„A Rat Is A Rat“ heizt kurz vor Schluss nochmals gehörig ein, bevor „Can’t Die, Won’t Die“ mit „The End Of The World“ zum finalen Song ansetzt und nochmals alle Zutaten der BLACK SPIDERs gekonnt vermengt.

Fazit

ls“ – skipping the intro for a moment – it’s clear that the next 40 minutes will be filled with guitar-heavy riff rock that occasionally reminds you of a harder version of Brit rock. From the first note on „Can’t Die, Won’t Die“ puts you in a party mood and you wish for some nicer weather to cruise through the villages with the convertible and the radio turned up loud. „Hot Wheels,“ that is. With „Driving My Rooster“ the band hits the same note and also lets a small twin-guitar part from the stack.

The BLACK SPIDERS have a lot of British-Irish musical DNA woven into their sound, but without seeming cribbed. From BLACK SABBATH to THIN LIZZY, MOTÖRHEAD and Brit-Pop/Rock, the trio has cut the best pieces and baked them into a new cake. And it tastes good! In „Destroyer“ the tempo is slowed down a bit, but without losing groove and style. Drums and bass rumble and chug like the V8 engine of the imaginary convertible mentioned at the beginning. Rather simple „Alright, Alright, Alright“ presents itself with a refrain, which can be sung at a concert now really by every last one. With „Traitors Walk“ more melodic tones are struck again, which is inherited by a kind of power ballad „It Is What It Is“. The tempo is picked up again with „Strange“, which is based on a driving riff. „A Rat Is A Rat“ heats up again shortly before the end, before „Can’t Die, Won’t Die“ starts the final song with „The End Of The World“ and once again mixes all ingredients of BLACK SPIDERs.

Conclusion

„Can’t Die Won’t Die“ offers no-frills entertainment for the next car ride or guaranteed live. (Almost) every song invites you to bob along or sing along, your head nods appreciatively in time from the first note. Although I have listened to „Can’t Die, Won’t Die“ a few times, none of the songs has really stuck in my brain. No humming along while brushing my teeth. No earworm that keeps humming the melodies. And yet: As soon as the play button is pressed again, the BLACK SPIDERS hammer themselves back into memory and the head bobs again.
